This is just a simple one shot that I found in my dresser. Hope you like it!
Numbness suddenly flowed through Linebeck's arms, trailing down his body and into his legs, leaving him frozen and immobile in his bed.
He glanced over to the other side of the room, his eyes landing on a boy, no more than thirteen years of age, shivering in his sleep.
The Isle of Frost had no mercy, especially at night.
The small boy's face was illuminated by three lights each close to his face, providing warmth.
"Maybe I'll have just one glass…" Linebeck thought hungrily, imagining a tall bottle of his favorite alcoholic beverage. The captain licked his lips at the thought. A thin film of ice formed around his mouth as if to correct him.
"No, no, no, no, no!" His conscience told him, "You promised the kid, the old man, and heck, you even promised the fairies that you wouldn't drink!"
"Of course," Linebeck mentally corrected himself, "It's a danger to all of us if you drink." He repeated the old man's words in his mind.
A sudden gust of wind forced a window open, letting snowflakes and bitter air into the already frigid room.
"Damn!" Linebeck whispered, his vision blurred by the sudden drop in temperature.
"I have to close it." Linebeck thought, seeing that Link had now begun shaking violently.
Linebeck sat up, the feeling coming back into his legs slowly.
He made his way towards the window, every bone in his body resisting each unwilling step he took. He finally approached the window and slammed it shut. But even the glass made his skin blue.
Linebeck stumbled backwards and landed back on his bed. His vision blurry and his entire body shaking, Linebeck tried to reposition himself, but put his hand on the metal bed frame by mistake.
Ice seemed to shoot into his bloodstream.
Linebeck restrained a cry. The sailor looked jealously at Link. The boy had his own blanket and Linebeck's blanket, which he had given up reluctantly. Plus, he had three little fluff balls to warm his face. At this thought, Link seemed to pull each fairy closer.
Linebeck turned his head and accidently rested neck on the frigid bed frame.
Against his will, Linebeck yelped, and a soft jingling was heard from across the room.
Linebeck saw Ciela's light brightening a bit, as she seemed to look around the room.
If Linebeck had not been near freezing to death, he would not of had the courage to use his voice.
"Sp-Sparkles?" Linebeck managed to croak out.
Ciela turned her attention towards him.
"I-I'm really c-cold. C-could you…" Linebeck said in a begging tone, nearly passing out when he was done.
Without a word, Ciela floated over to him.
Linebeck closed his eyes, expecting her to lecture him, telling him to man up or something.
Linebeck opened his eyes to find Ciela lying on his shoulder.
"This is between you and me only. 'Kay, Sparkles?" Linebeck whispered, now much warmer.
"Sure," Ciela said, "Just between us." The fairy whispered before falling asleep.
Friendship? Romance? You decide.
I don't own Link, Linebeck, Ciela, Isle of Frost, or fluff balls.
