A.N/ I wrote this for English class, but I decided I should share it with you guys!

It's very short… just drabble really

Enjoy! Remember, Silver is epic!

Lyra flopped down in her seat, just as the sound of the second bell echoed round the corridors. She smiled as she slumped into a comfortable position, satisfied that she had managed not to be late this time.

The lesson, however, she was not so happy about, with maths probably being her worst subject. She could not seem to get the hang of it, and besides, she didn't even understand why she had to know all this, so therefore she didn't not understand, she just chose not to understand. There was a difference, despite what other people chose to think. She just didn't see why she should try to learn something that was completely pointless in the end.

Not like Silver.

She glanced over at him, where he was writing in his exercise book, his red hair falling over his eyes. Of course, she didn't need to able to see his eyes to know that they were trained to the page… he probably had that 'V' indent in between his eyes that he got when he was concentrating, too…

She shook herself out of her reverie abruptly.

This is maths. Concentrate on the work, not Silver.

Silver…Silver is such a weird name… I wonder if it's because of his eyes? I bet –

Wait. Stop.

She bent over her work, her tongue sticking out of the corner of her mouth as she reluctantly applied herself to the set task. She just about managed to keep her eyes away from Silver for the rest of the lesson, however her mind might have wondered away from algebra just a few times, but she managed to get it done. That was all that mattered, right?

She was not usually so scatter – brained, normally she was used to having a concentration span just fraction longer than a brain dead gnat. She decided it was Silver's fault for being so…so…

The bell went abruptly, and the teacher looked up from his newspaper.

'All right, class, put your work on my desk and I'll have it marked by next lesson.'

She began to gather her stuff together, when Silver breezed by her desk. She wasn't sure what came over her, she just really wanted to talk to him.

'Hey, Silver,' she said, smiling at him.

He paused, as if considering ignoring her, then turned on his heel abruptly and looked at her, mild irritation evident on his features. She smiled, in an attempt to convey that, no, she was not going to jump up and bite him.

His eyes flickered down to her work, and the corner of his mouth turned up slightly.

'Most of those are wrong, you know,' he replied in that annoyingly haughty accent he adopted when he was addressing his peers.

She stood up and glared at him.

'Well sorry if I offended you, Mr. High and Mighty! It's just such a pity not everyone is as incredibly clever and tremendous as you are! Maybe we should all just quit now, because we are all clearly just hopeless cases and a waste of space!'

He raised an eyebrow, and smirked at her.

'Apology accepted. Now if you don't mind, could you move? You're standing on my foot.'

She was this close to slapping him on his stupid, smug face.

'Good! I hope it hurt!' she snarled, and flounced off angrily, too furious with him to wait for any of her friends.

Silver watched as she marched off down the corridor, then laughed to himself and twirled the object he had picked up when she ran off around his finger.

'Stupid girl; wonder how long it will take her to notice?'

Just as the words were out of his mouth, a mighty scream that could possibly shake a building to its foundations was heard all along the corridors.

'SILVER! Give me my hat back RIGHT NOW!'
