I saw him, at least I think it was him
I saw him, at least I think it was him. As I was walking through the mucky street to get to the sidewalk I could have sworn I saw him…I thought I had seen…Edward. My heart, which he had broken just months ago, began to beat wildly in my chest.
Suddenly all of my heartache and all of the restless nights were forgotten, as I ran towards him.
The rain which was falling in buckets now, drenched me from head to toe, but I didn't care. I had to see him; I had to know if he was back for me, if he…still loved me.
As I got closer, Edward got farther.
"Edward…come back!" I cried, "Come back! Edward!"
There was no response he just kept backing away with every step I took forward.
Is this really what he wants? I thought…I thought he loved me.
I couldn't let him get away. I began to run, loosing my footing and I fell onto the slippery street. The mud and water soaked into my pants, though they were already wet.
Quickly I tried to get up, but when I did he was gone.
"Edward!" I screamed, looking around. "Edward!"
Where could he have gone? Now I questioned more than ever why he couldn't read my thoughts, I questioned why he would leave me.
Then as I remembered, I wasn't beautiful. I was average, under average. I was Isabella Swan, end of story. How could I be so stupid to have not remembered that Edward could run faster than the speed of light? How could I forget as I replayed every moment I spent with him, how could I forget all those nights when I dreamt of him. Every night was devoted to memories of us, memories of him.
I once again hurried around in the streets searching for him, until once again I fell. This time however I didn't have time to get up. I didn't have time for much of anything…I was too shocked.
As I looked up from my spot in the street that I thought was deserted and was, just moments before came a speeding car. It was heading right towards me.
Suddenly strong, cold arms wrapped around me and tugged me to the side. If it had been seconds later, I would be dead.
Before my savior could leave I shot my eyes up to his face and there was Edward.
"Edward," I whispered.
Then he was gone.
