Together Again
By carefreewritergirl
~Written in honor of Doctor Who's 53rd Anniversary~
There was a street, an endless, dark street. At the end of it a man stood, conversed feet planted deeply into the ground, a trenchcoat sweeping around his ankles, clad in pinstriped trousers. And for once he wasn't moving. He was simply staring. Standing and staring, his vivid brown eyes wide open, as if for the first time the world that had been spinning and spinning, his life that had always been movement from the word go, was grinding to a stop.
At the end of the street, a dim shadow, an almost unrecognized shape out of the past, seemed to shimmer and laugh at him. Was it her? Was it really her?
And suddenly he was running, running like he never had before, not from aliens or daleks or anything else in the entire universe, because here was the glimpse of a jewel he had let slip through his fingers, and now he had found it again, and he was going to run to it before it could run away, before it fell into another stream of time and was whisked away by the current.
Everything fell away and he could only see her faceā¦
Until she fell into him, and the whole warmth of her body, all the billions upon billions of protons, neutrons, electrons, quarks that made up her shone on him like the heat from a golden sun. Nothing, not anything in all of his imaginings, could compare to this.
They were together again.
