This is just something I felt like writing, not a very big story or anything. This isn't really a chapter but more of an introduction to the story, so that's why it's so short!

"I'm sorry."
"Not interested."
"I really am sorry, Tangleheart!"
"Do I look like I care?"
I fell silent as I looked into her pale green eyes, eyes so full of anger and hate. Something crumbled inside of me, like a pile of dry dirt.
"Would you forgive someone if they killed your siblings?" Tangleheart snarled.
I flinched. I know how you feel, I wanted to say. Please, Tangleheart. I was set up. But I couldn't, because I would put her life in danger.
I hung my head instead. "But you must believe that I didn't intentionally do it."
Tangleheart snorted. "Believe you? Blazetail, you can't believe how many times I've tried to believe you. But you broke my trust and my heart." She turned her back on me and continued to head forward.
"Wait, Tangleheart!" I meowed helplessly, pushing my way through the vegetation towards her. She took one glance at me and began to run.
"Wait!" I yowled, as the stench of the Thunderpath hit me. "Tangleheart, stop! Stop!"
But she didn't hear me over the roar of the monsters. Tangleheart leapt onto the Thunderpath, which was slippery with rain, and skidded to the middle.
I will never forget that moment in my life, when Tangleheart looked at me. She knew, I thought. She knew she was going to be gone from this world. And I gazed back into her eyes, the eyes that I knew so well when we were just kits.
Those eyes, once so full of pain and regret and hate, were now masked with a kind of sad happiness.
And then the monster came, and Tangleheart disappeared forever from my world.
