This popped into my head while listening to the song 'Where Will You Go?' by Evanescence. It wouldn't stop nagging me so here is the result. A drabble-ish, angsty InuKag with a side order of InuKik. Rated for implications. Very obvious implications.
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha. Simple as that.

She could never compare to the other one.
It hurts, every time he leaves, muttering something about going for a walk. She knows better than to follow. It hurts, seeing him return early the following morning, the odor of clay and soil clinging to his skin. It hurts when he says he'll protect her, never leave her. Each lie is a dagger through her heart. It hurts when he tells her he loves her, holding her to him like she's the only thing that matters, like they're the only ones left in the world. They both know the words are nothing more than sugar-coated deception.
"What is my reincarnation to you, Inuyasha? Do you care for her the way you care for me?" The words are uttered with a malicious smile.
"She's nothing to me. Useless, aside from being able to sense the jewel shards."
A smirk. "Are you sure? I know she can be quite... taken when it comes to you, Inuyasha."
"She's a hinderance. She can't fend for herself, always relying on others to save her. She's weak, an irritation."
"She doesn't know how you see her, though."
"Are you joking? She would follow me to the ends of the earth, if I asked her to. Her adoration is painfully obvious." The words are dripping with disgust.
"Hm. I knew you would see sense in time."
She pulled his face to hers...
The memory always made her cringe inside. After that first time, she never went after him.
She often wondered to herself why she went along with his game, accepted his false affection and gave everything she had in return.
Even now, as he was frantically pushing up her skirt, his hakama undone and eyes burning with desire, she came up with an answer. Not the true answer, the one she knew deep in her heart, but the one that she thought of when she wanted to justify her actions. 'He needs me. One day when Kikyou leaves his heart in pieces, someone will have to pick them up and glue them together again. I will be that person.' She felt her back pressing against the wall of the small hut, and his hands on her hips, nails digging into her skin. And when he was finished, he leaned forward, pressing his forehead against hers, muttering the words again. His breath caressed her face, lips centimeters from hers.
"Love you, Kagome."
"I love you too, Inuyasha."
Though the words came automatically, she could never admit it to herself.
