"This is only a prototype, Razz! I don't even know if it'll do what it's supposed to do. It might make Qqaba explode, not go supernova." Omega explained to Rassilon, trying to convince his friend of the foolishness of haste.
"Ohm. You are the finest solar engineer in the history of Gallifrey! Of course it will work. Admittedly, the last time we tied one of your machines, we kind of started the Vampire War, but that was a fluke." Rassilon insisted, trying to convince HIS friend of the potential benefits of hurrying. "And! And, you helped fix the problem with those shells you made."
"A fluke, Razz? A fluke? A war is a fluke? Hardly! And YOU opened that black hole, not I, precisely because you rushed your experiment. How many Gallifreyans have been killed by the Vampires? How many?" Omega growled, starting to get angry.
"...That's not really important." Rassilon said.
Omega froze, staring at Rassilon. Then he leaned his head back and shouted: "-!", naming the Other, who was standing off to one side, watching the scene unfold.
"-! What do you think?" Omega asked the Other.
The Other shrugged his shoulders. "If it works, might we have the power for time travel? Both of you have said that Qqaba would probably produce enough energy to power temporal manipulation. At the very least, Rassilon, you can make another one of your harnesses." As usual, the Other didn't quite make sense, but even so, the other two Gallifreyans partially understood the points he made.
"Perhaps... if the experiment works... We can go back and prevent the war. Save everyone." Omega said, sinking into deep thought.
"Precisely! We can stop the war from ever happening!" Rassilon exclaimed. "We can even stop the Pythia from coming to power."
We could even rule Gallifrey. Rassilon thought greedily.
So many people could be saved. Omega thought. He was still rather hung up on that particular thought.
I would like some edible ball bearings. Edible ball bearings are cool. And tasty. What are edible ball bearings, anyway? thought the Other, who was rather hungry.
"Well..." Omega began. He was trying to come up with another legitimate reason to delay the experiment. He failed miserably.
