First off - This is the begining of a digimon story with all new characters.
Tale I - Trent & Rena
Trent keeps running because he knows he will soon he caught if he drops speed. He speeds up, almost tripping. The forested area has many branches coming out in all different directions. Playing hockey though he knows how to be fast and move fast.
He was close to the exit of the forest so he knew he made it to the "safe spot." Wuls Willow, the town Trent lives in, was built in a forest. When the town was created they didn't tear all the trees down. So pretty much you have forest area and then town area everywhere combined.
Trent is about out the forested area, when suddenly he is pushed by Rena who yells at him, "Finally got ya." Trent falls and hits the ground hard.
Stubbornly he snaps at Rena, "Ouch! You didn't have to push me."
Rena replies softly, "Sorry Trent." She walks to him and offers a hand, as her foot touches the ground it seems to break in, like some sort of trap. After realizing they had fallen into a hole and lying there for a bit. The two try to get up. "Crack" The ground breaks in again………
