Notes: I call this poetry fic. It is like songfic, but instead of lyrics, there is original poetry. Enjoy!

Skidding through the corners, tearing through the passages, she ran. In time to her well worn boots clomping down on the golden floor, she thought 'no no no no no.' Over and over, her pace never slowing until she reached her target.
-------
Doorway, you mock me.
Your welcoming doors do not welcome me.
My love, my life, my mate is in there.
Let me in you vindictive beasts.
-------
She slid in, breathing hard, sweat mixing with the salty tears that were falling unnoticed down her pallid face. Zhaan looked up from a torn and beaten body. "Aeryn," she whispered, "I'm sorry."
-----
Damn words.
They do no good.
They look at you and enter your ears.
Meanings are lost in my storm of emotions.
-----
Aeryn shook her head, the muscles in her chin tightening, the unmistakable sign of her regret and grief breaking through the thin membrane of her emotional dam. Her knees buckled and she crashed to the floor. She began to bow her head into her hands to hide her anguish, but then she saw it. The blood. The crusty dark red liquid that clung to her quivering hands just stood there, not moving, silent in it's mockery.
------
Live giver,
Life sustainer,
Life taker.
You pour out so ever slowly with such malice
That I cannot bear to breath.
-----
Zhaan quickly grabbed the objects of her friend's torment, and cleaned them off with a towel. She embraced Aeryn, "Shh, he didn't suffer. If anything, be glad of that."

"Oh Zhaan…" She sobbed into the loose blue garment, "It's my fault. I know it is. I…"

Zhann began urging Aeryn over to a bed, "Rest, the more you sleep, the less time there is to dwell on this. You have been through a lot today, I will get John in here as soon as I can."

She curled into a ball under the blankets and resigned herself to the emotions that just a few cycles earlier she refused to accept as real.
-----
Life, it is so brief.
It comes and goes in a flash.
And if your eyes are closed, you do not see it.
My eyes will forever be open now.
