"Say, Edogawa-kun?" Haibara asked during a camping trip with the detective boys. It was night, everyone else was asleep, but the two shrunken geniuses came out to watch the stars. Noticing that she had gotten his attention she continued, "Have you ever wanted to kill someone?"
"Well, that's an odd question even for little Miss evil eyed yawny girl. Why do you ask?" He looked down from the stars to her, both knowing that she could never just ask something like that out of simple curiosity.
"You did give me an explanation on why you save everyone, but I don't think that explanation would mean you've never wanted to kill someone. So, I'm curious, you said yourself that you weren't perfect, have you ever wanted to kill someone?" The boy across from her got a melancholy look in his eyes and then brought his hand up in his usual thinking pose, remaining silent for several seconds.
"I suppose anyone who has come across murders has wanted to kill someone. I am a bit ashamed to say that there is always a slight desire in my subconscious to kill Gin when I see him. To make sure that some of the mass murderers, bombers, thieves, will never be able to hurt anyone again. But I could never bring myself to kill anyone, or even just to let them die when there might be something I can do. And besides, there are always people I want to kill more than the ones I'm confronted with.
"Of course you would answer like that. So humble," she said mockingly. "But who do you want to kill more than anyone else?" It made no sense. Someone like Conan or Shinichi would never want to hurt anyone, it seemed impossible for him to want to kill them.
Shiho placed her hands in her pale pink hoodie's pockets like a thief who just stole some goods at the sudden wind that passed by. Conan, on the other hand, just breathed in the air as he decided what he wanted to say.
"I do hate Vodka and Gin. I hate Vermont and those snipers Chianti and Korn. I hate the people I see every week who kill, and I especially hate those who kill just for fun or for a terrible reason. I have to admit, I'm not sure how much effort it would take for me to choose to save the Boss of the Black Organization if they were in trouble. But I don't want to kill them more than anyone else…" Conan breathed out and saw his breath disappear in the air. "The one I want to kill more than anyone else on this planet is the one who stole my entire life from me. Took me out of my world full of happiness and truth and put me in this one of lies. I, more than anyone else, want to kill Edogawa Conan."
