A/N: Here we go again! Another story purely for your enjoyment. Sorry for the shortness.
Disclaimer: They're not mine.
To J.Stone, my awesome reviewer: Here's the fluff you've been waiting for!
"Good… Just checking." Lorelai looked down nervously, remembering what Sookie had mentioned just minutes earlier.
She hesitated to raise her gaze for fear that she would see what that part of her mind that she'd pushed aside and tried in vain to silence told her she wanted. That little voice that always seemed to pipe up at the worst of times was telling her that she wanted to see… well, something. She wasn't quite sure what that something was. But she knew she'd understand when she saw it.
Then there was the other voice. The louder one. The logical one. The one that told her not to want that something. It told her that seeing it would only ruin what a great thing they had going. And she certainly didn't want that, did she? No, it was better to stay where they were and not toe that invisible line that they had drawn.
But suddenly she realized. She saw that they were both settling for less than they wanted because they were scared that if they took the plunge, they would end up with nothing.
So she did it. She decided to take that plunge, to be the first to dive into the depths of the unknown.
Lorelai looked up and met his gaze.
And she saw it. That something she knew she'd been looking for.
It was confirmation. Confirmation of the fact that he'd been too scared to speak up. Confirmation of the fact that he'd been afraid of rejection. Confirmation of the fact that he hadn't wanted to screw up the amazing, but platonic, relationship they'd had.
Confirmation of the fact that he loved her.
The ball was in his court now. She could only hope that her eyes mirrored his, since she knew that he was feeling as she was.
Apparently she managed to convey what she'd wanted, because with newfound confidence, Luke kissed her.
And the diner broke into applause.
The End!
