How Emmett the Vampire happened.

Emmett Cullen was a strong but lonely man. He worked hard everyday to provide for his siblings and mother, his much beloved Uncle Herbert also lived with him and was too poorly to work. So everyday Emmett walked miles and miles to look for small labour intensive jobs with which he earned little money and still struggled to pay for dear old Herbert's medical care.

One day Emmett was taking a short cut through the woods, he was trying hunting in the hopes that this would bring in more food than the little money he earned. Struck with a rare day off he had found an old rifle of his fathers lying in his little brothers cot. Shaping bullets from the old suit of armour Herbert kept in the shed he had set off, searching for dear, rabbits…maybe even a bear! He could only imagine how long a good old grizzly would feed his family for!

He had chased a mountain lion for a while but the little ass-hat had moved faster than he had ever imagined. He knew that if he could only spot a grizzly then he could undeniably take him down. He sat down on a tree trunk and pulled out his satchel which contained a small lunch of dry bread and tree's, what he wouldn't do for meat! The sun scorched his face and his eyes were blinded by the light. Suddenly a shadow fell across his face but it was gone before he could see the fast moving creature. He saw brown fur weave in between the trees and was on his feet in seconds his lunch forgotten. Emmett was on the hunt.

He followed the creature through the woods rifle aloft and ready already planning the bear pie he would have his mother make. But before he knew it the bear had struck from behind and he was thrown to the ground the rifle flew across the leaf-ridden forest. He spun around and jumped back on his feet ready to face his enemy. The bear lunged for him paws raised. Emmett weaved and grabbed a tuft of hair on his neck throwing the bears head backwards and easily dodging his sharp teeth. The bear however landed sharp stinging blows to the side of Emmett's toned stomach.

Emmett was down, his hands clutching his stomach and side, crying out in pain. He raised his bloody hands to defend his face but the bear was too fast and came at him again. Emmett shut his eyes. He was ready for the pain and prepared for the death, how could it be worse than his life? But Emmett was surprised when the death he was waiting for didn't come. Instead of the face of the bear he looked up into the pale face of an angel her blonde hair curtained her face as her black eyes bore into his, he mouth was set into a snarl. But suddenly the coal black of her eyes softened into an almost hazel hue and she had picked him up. Maybe he was dead and this was heaven afterall.
