It was a violent encounter with a high suspect that led Gibbs to the hospital. While sitting in the lobby he noticed a tired yet happy looking Tobias Fornell enter the gift shop. Gibbs remembered the man that had married his first ex-wife had also knocked her up.
"Boy or girl," Gibbs asked as he cornered Fornell in the gift shop.
"Girl," Fornell replied smiling, "Named Emily. She gave Diane and me a scare though."
"Daughters are precious things," Gibbs replied as he paid for a pink soft toy.
It would be years before Fornell understood exactly what Gibbs meant.
