Just a little one-shot of Korra's thoughts, based off the end of Episode 7 (The Aftermath)

Korra was the Avatar, plain and simple. It was her duty to keep peace and do whatever was best for everyone. She had to work for the greater good.

Which is why she let Mako go to Asami.

She wasn't allowed the luxury of being able to chase after him because Asami needed Mako more than Korra did.

Korra had always accepted the fact that she would be alone. Of course, she had both of her parents, Tenzin, Pema, and everyone else, but she still knew that she alone was the Avatar and would always be alone, different, and distant in some way.

Asami, however, had always depended on her only living parent for love and security. After she lost that, and had to betray her father, Korra knew Asami would be lost. Korra knew Asami would need a crutch, someone to hold her up and help her heal. Korra knew Asami was the better one for Mako, someone that he can love and not lose. Korra knew Asami would make Mako happier.

It was so simple.

Asami needed Mako.

Korra didn't.

Yet still Korra couldn't explain the burning in her chest and the tears threatening to overflow and drown her.

It's really short I'm just up late and decided to write something, please review :) Both compliments and criticism are gladly welcome :)
