p style="text-align: center;"span style="text-decoration: underline;"Chapter I: Percy's Mission/span/p
p style="text-align: left;" Percy Jackson walked alone through the forest. He kept his hand tightly on the pen in his pocket. Percy was the son of Poseidon which gave him power over the waters, horses, and such. Although, that didn't give him the power to avoid picking the shortest straw or evade his girlfriend Annabeth's urging to just go on the mission and stop making up stupid excuses. He wasn't the lazy type, I mean, he saved the world more than once! It was the mission that gave him the jitters./p
p style="text-align: left;" The camp director Chiron, had called a special meeting with Percy and his friends. There he told them about how Hecate goddess of magic and such, had been causing trouble in the forest. Chiron also said that there had been reports from retired demigods of new unusual creatures being spotted in the forests and the edges of cities. He also explained that it would appear that some mortals were able to see the creatures. Therefore, Chiron said that there must be somebody that was willing to go out and find the creatures to assess if they were dangerous to mortals or not. Of course, no one was outright willing to take up this excursion, so they all drew straws, and, of course Percy drew the shortest. He had no further say in the matter went on the mission./p
p style="text-align: left;" Everyone else had things that they had to do. Even Annabeth couldn't come. She said that she had some architectural classes and she didn't want to chance getting eaten if she could avoid it./p
p style="text-align: left;" Percy was fairly sure that if it were a monster that it would find him soon as it could probably smell him. Monsters had the ability to "smell" demigods from a good distance away. And Percy was sure that he smelled like a big Percy cheeseburger with extra cheese. Any monster within a five mile radius would have locked onto his scent by now./p
p style="text-align: left;" As he walked through the ever darkening forest, he heard something up ahead. Many images flashed through his head as to what it might be. He had had too many run ins with monsters over the years, possibly even before he knew he was a demigod. He saw flickering flames erupt from the dry bushes up ahead. He pulled out his pen and uncapped it. Riptide, Percy's Celestial Bronze sword sprang to life./p
p style="text-align: left;" emMust be a Chimera or something, /emPercy thought worriedly. He had had a not so good experience with a Chimera in St. Louis once which involved him jumping from a high height into a murky, polluted river. Good times/p
p style="text-align: left;" Percy approached the fire slowly not exactly sure what to expect. His friend Leo had the power to make fire, but it couldn't be him because he was on a date with his girlfriend Calypso. Percy used the water from a nearby stream to douse the raging fire in the brush. As he put out the fire, Percy thought that he heard someone yell. He rushed over to the smoldering brush and gave a yelp. Past the brush was a big, bright orange, fire breathing dragon./p
