Chapter 1
Killian walked back from the cemetery after his monthly visit to Neal's grave and decided to cut back through to woodland and take a walk. He had grown to love Storybrookes' community spirit but after spending so much time with only the calmness of the ocean for company, it was nice to have some peace and quiet in the forest. He knew the area well now and could quite happily walk it back to the town to make his lunch with his swan. He thought about his life here and what it was like now things were different for him. Sure he missed piracy now and then but it was a small price to pay for what he got in return. The love of his life who he treasured more than his own life, a boy he cherished as she cherished his father and a sense of family when he was around the towns people. Although the life of a pirate was full of adventure and excitement, it did lack a sense of fulfilment in the family department. On a ship, there was no one around to make sure you were alright or if anything was bothering you. The people of this town cared for him in their own ways. Emma loved him, Henry admired him and Snow and charming trusted him with their daughter and grandson. Even Regina would have a coffee with Killian whilst he dropped Henry at hers...
Killian was snapped from his thought about his new life when his mind brought his body to a halt. He was stood in a small clearing surrounded by large thick trees when he heard a sharp snap of a twig. He used his peripheral vision to glance around before spinning to look behind him. He paused for a moment before he heard something else. It was faint but he could have sworn it was a cackle. Killian considered for a moment that it could be children out playing in the woods and decided to continue with his walk but was stopped by a strangely familiar and darkly sensual voice...
"Hello again my dear Captain. Still as handsome as ever"
He brought his hand to the inside of his jacket and whipped out a gun that David had given him (since he had been teaching him how to use one and Killian had gotten pretty great with it). He pointed it to where he thought he'd heard the noise and remained still...
"Whoever you are, you are a coward for hiding from your opponent" he called out to the empty space around him before voice cackled again but much louder. Killian sensed movement behind him and spun around only to be stunned by whom he saw leaning seductively against a tree...
"Oh Killian you couldn't recognise my voice? After all the time we spent together? I'm a little hurt" the mystery woman pouted with mock hurt and sauntered towards him until they were nose to nose and she draped her arm over his shoulder and ran a finger of the other hand down the side of his face. Killian recoiled at the contact and gently but firmly removed the arm from his shoulder...
"Dear Ursula, you haven't changed a bit" he said with as much cool as he could manage as he holstered his gun. He was stunned to see the sea witch again after all these years and he wasn't exactly thrilled to see her. They hadn't parted on the best of terms. Ursula smiled quite sweetly at him and let out a small giggle and ran her fingers through his hair which caused Killian to shiver. The sea witch picked up on this...
"You never used to mind my touch back in our world, captain" she let the last word drip of her tongue and brought her lips close to his own so she could feel her breath against his skin and the oh so recognisable scent of the sea water radiated from her. Killian suddenly felt a wave of claustrophobia as he shuddered at the memory. He grasped her wandering hand and disentangled her long fingers from his hair and moved it harshly this time and took a step back so there was some space between them.
"I could never tell the difference between your fingers and your tentacles, Ursula" Killian sneered and he watched the sea witches' face harden. She seemed to get the message and smirked at him as she slowly wandered back a few steps to take him in full view...
"There is no need to be so hostile, Killian. I merely wanted to proposition my favourite pirate" she said with a dark humorous tone in her voice. Killian laughed at her attempts to sway him and stepped closer to her again to make his point...
"There is nothing you could give me that I could possibly want" he bit out every word sharply but Ursula wasn't giving up so easily.
"Oh how I have missed that stubborn streak in you Killian. You have no idea how irritating your royal subjects can be in that way. They think because you are their queen that they cannot talk back to you. They are all so spineless and simpering with their bowing and eyes glued to the floor. A woman like me needs confrontation!..." she feigned annoyance as she circled him Killian like a shark and drank him in. Killian could feel her eyes wandering over him and truthfully, it made his skin crawl. She stepped round to face him once again...
"...Which you so seamlessly provided" she tried once more to get under his skin by bringing her hand up to his face again but Killian had had enough and snatched the offending hand in a vice like grip with his own. With his hook pressed closely to the Ursula's' throat...
"Touch me once more and I will gut you like the fish that you are" he spat through gritted teeth trying to scare the witch but all she did was laugh. Killian blood was starting to boil but quickly ran cold when her cackle was joined by two more of the same sound. To his utter shock, two more women sauntered out from behind their own trees. A woman draped in white fur with a white streak through her short raven black hair and another dressed all in black with black horns and a long staff clasped in her hand. Killian recognised them from those infernal moving pictures Henry had forced him to watch. The names Melificent and Cruella De Ville came to mind. He could see that he was in trouble and reluctantly released Ursula from his tight hold. They all continued to laugh as they all stepped in one line. The woman in fur was the first to speak...
"Ursula darling you were right, he is quite the dashing figure" she spoke in a voice equally as dark and dripping with malice as she eyed hook up and down. He began to feel nauseous and swore to himself that if he ever got out of this, he would never boast about his looks again.
"Not that I'm not flattered by your attention, ladies, but may I ask what the bloody hell do you want" Killian raised his voice in anger and aggression. The woman with the staff was the nest to speak...
"Why Captain, we merely wish to offer you a proposition like dear Ursula said" she feigned innocence which caused Killian to roll his eyes...
"The thing is dear..." Ursula interjected once more... "We thought that with you being one of us, a villain that is, that you'd wish to support your side and join us in the fight. You see we are taking what rightfully belongs to us ... Our happy endings"
Killian reluctantly listened as she went on...
"And we thought that we would give you the opportunity to help us" Ursula finished and Killian took in the information with disgust at the thought of betraying his love and his friends for whatever this pathetic coven wanted. He began to laugh to himself.
"I don't know what it is that you are planning ladies, but I can guarantee you that you will fail miserably. There isn't enough magic between you all to accomplish anything" Killian smirked at the witched but remained composed as the one thing he had learned was to not get cocky when outnumbered. However the witches did not seem swayed by this as they began to cackle once again and Cruella spoke up.
"Oh my dear, you underestimate us. I assure you we have more magic than we will ever need as there is not just the three of us in this fight. We have once more on our side. I believe you know him quite well. He is the most powerful dark wizard of them all" the woman drawled as Killians' eyes went wide.
Rumplestiltskin was involved in this? He must have found a way to return. With his powers. But Killian didn't have time to process anymore as the witches seemed to sense his shock so they decided to fill him in...
"Rumple said that you two had been at odds with each other, that is why he felt it wise to stay away and let us talk to you first. He wanted us to let you know that all is forgiven with that nasty business with that dagger of his on the condition you come and join the side that you have kept to for centuries" the horned woman spoke to Killian as if he were a child which only raised his blood pressure to the maximum.
"He wants you to give up this foolish charade of being a family man with love in his life. You know that wasn't what you were made for, Captain. We all have our callings in life. You are a villainous pirate willing to commit so much evil for his own gain, that is who you are and who you will always be" a smile grew all over the witches face. Killian was ready to pounce at these accusations. Why in hell would he risk his relationship with Emma for anything, there were times he missed his life as a pirate but being with Emma was worth it. She was worth everything.
Killian took a few strides until he was nose to nose with Melificent...
"You can tell that wasted little imp to go to hell and you three along with him"
As Killian said this he discreetly pulled out his gun and shot Melificent in the leg. She doubled over and let out a blood curdling shriek as Killian darted into the trees. He knew that a gunshot wouldn't stop them for long but he could hope it would delay them long enough to get back into town. However his hope was short lived as he felt his limbs go rigid and he became frozen in midair. He attempted to struggle with the invisible bonds as he was slowly turned around to face a now once again healthy Melificent with her hand raised in his direction. Obviously she was the one controlling the magic holding him.
She brought him closer to her with the cruella and Ursula just behind her and she shook her haid and smiled...
"Really Captain, I didn't expect such a ridiculous escape attempt from you" She chided as the other two began to chuckle at his attempts to get free.
"I think we can safely say that you don't wish to join our little team" Melificent feigned sweetness as Killian looked blankly at her...
"I would rather die than betray these people for the likes of you!" he yelled and gave one last jolt of his body to try and release himself but it was useless. Melificent gave a thoughtful look for a moment and turned back to Killian with a sickly smile on her face...
"Well then we will have to get along without you, wont we?" she spoke as she dropped her hand and Killian landed on the floor with a thud. He groaned and managed to stand with some difficulty. Ursula stepped forward and pouted...
"It's such a shame, Killian, we were so good together once upon a time" the sea witch said with a glint in her eye but Killian shook it off. Cruella stepped forward and gave Killian a once over...
"I know we agreed that if he didn't accept our offer we would kill him, but I have a better plan" she raised an eyebrow to the other two witched and they all smiled in silent agreement. Killian couldn't think what they were planning until Cruella raised her hand to her lips as if to blow a kiss to him but instead blew a source of magic in his direction in the form of a golden smoke. It hit Killian and grew into a thick fog that surrounded him. He remained engulfed in the smoke for a few seconds until it cleared and the sound of the witches cackled filled his ears. As his vision cleared he saw the witches again but something was different. They were taller. He wondered what they had done until he realised that he was now colour blind. He tried to speak but his voice had been replaced with something else. If he didn't know better, she could have sworn it was a bark. He tried again but achieved the same result. The witches continued to laugh and their faces wore looks of mock pity...
"Well done Cruella dear, he is positively adorable!" Ursula bellowed as they all burst into uncontrollable laughter again and disappeared in a puff of black smoke. Killian was now left alone in the forest. He didn't want to see what they had done to him but he knew he had to find out. He best his head down and stared into the reflection of the puddle he had been stood in front of. He stared for a moment in disbelief and attempted to scream in frustration. But all that came out was a howl. The howl of something pretty close to a wolf.
