The brave knight stood at the edge of the quiet pool, awaiting his destiny. Gradually, the water began to stir. The middle of the lake started to bubble as if it were boiling. Rough waves crashed against the shore. The knight stood his ground. Out of the water rose a fearsome creature with angry smoke fuming from its jaws. The mighty dragon had awakened.

The knight drew his sword as the dangerous animal made its way to the edge of the pool. When it was close enough, the knight gave a glorious battle cry and charged his prey. The dragon at last noticed our heroic knight. The poor devil turned to see the armored man, waving his sword above his head as he closed in; the sunlight glinting off the impressive blade.

The evil dragon took his stand against his enemy. The knight drew close. The dragon raised its massive body in warning. But the knight would not forsake his mission! The knight raised his sword to strike.

"Die, worm!"

Suddenly, the dragon collapsed. The knight's blade had not so much as touched the monster. The dragon had fallen by its own will. Giant, frightened tears formed in the eyes of the dragon and he huddled at the knight's feet. The dragon covered his head with his claws and whimpered, sadly. The dragon was at the knight's mercy.

The knight stood frozen in place. His enemy appeared to have surrendered, unexpectedly. Reluctantly, the knight lowered his weapon and heaved an irritated sigh as he gazed at the pathetic beast.

Not again.

Tiny America watched the shivering lump under the green blanket in front of him. He shook his head, sadly. His playmate was hopeless. The disappointed knight-wanna-be dropped his wooden sword and got on his knees.

"Ya know," he said simply as he lifted the blanket to reveal his twin brother, Canada, cowering underneath, "you don't make a very good dwagon."

Author's Note:

EDIT: Edited America's speech a little, so that it matches the rest of my stories.

Yay me! I think this is the shortest thing I have ever written! I'm super proud of myself, right now! (Usually, all my writings end up being way longer than I had anticipated, so this is a big deal for me, ok? Let me have my moment.) Mydilemma is that I'll most likely end up continuing this cute idea anyway.

Anyway, guess who's been reading "Saint George and the Dragon?" Figured England would have probably told it to the North American brothers. America would have totally loved it, and would have probably initiated many imaginative play games with Canada based on the story. Guess who gets to be Saint George and who gets to be the dragon? ;)
