John dragged the lead over the paper softly, leaving a light line. He drew over it again to make the line darker and more prominent. He sighed and glanced out of the train at the scenery which was flying past. He tapped the end of his pencil on the table that sat in between John and Sherlock. He peered around the carriage for some inspiration. He nibbled at his lower lip see he thought.
Suddenly, Sherlock shifted in his sleep and mumbled something about observation and idiots. John looked up at the snoozing detective with a faint smile. He hadn't slept in 3 days so John was more that happy to see him taking a nap.
He began to look out of the window again but his eyes were pulled back over to Sherlock. He studied his flatmate for a moment before realising that a delight it would be to draw those prominent cheekbones.
John flipped his paper over to a new pages and began to sketch the outline of his friend's face. He then drew the messy mop of dark curls that sat atop his head. Each curl was curved out and John shaded each one individually with care and dedication.
The outline and hair was done quickly so he moved onto the face. Each feature demanded his attention. He gazed upon the face opposite him before starting on the mouth and plump lips. He drew the defined cupid's bow easily and the bottom lip was easy to draw. The slight pout that the detective was wearing made John chuckle quietly to himself as he drew it. The cheekbones were easy but the shading was difficult since the owner of the cheekbones was shifting and moving in his nose was simple to do but the shading took a bit longer than he had originally expected. The doctor had left the eyes for last because he wanted to do them justice.
He drew the smooth curve of where the eyelids met and he fanned out the eyelashes that gently rested to the sociopath's cheek. He smiled down at the drawing as it made the detective look completely at peace. The drawing was amazingly detailed and was practically a photograph. Sherlock stirred so John slammed his notebook shut and tucked it into his coat pocket.
The genius groaned and stretched as he awoke, "What have you been doing?" He asked curiously.
"Just admiring the view." John said with a smirk before glancing at the passing fields.
Sherlock looked out the window, "It is a nice view."
"You'd never believe how right you are." The blogger chuckled.
The genius looked over to John in confusion but just shook his head and settled down to watch the world passing by the window.
