I run as if a monster chases me, even though I know he won't move.
I close my eyes and wonder what made me think things would work out? I look around to see where my legs have taken me. The sand between my toes tells me I'm at the beach. I walk, feeling the breeze rush through my purple silk top that Alice lent me. I can't stop thinking about him, why can I not stop thinking about him? My legs give in and I collapse. My mascara smudges and I know my hair is ruined. All that work for nothing.
Suddenly, I hear footsteps getting louder. I squint through the fog and see a figure walking toward me. I wipe my tears and straighten my clothes. I know who it is and don't want this person to see me like this, but even if he does I know he will be more comforting than someone else I know. I act like I'm asleep and he kneels down, warming not only my body, but my heart as well. I'm scooped up and taken to that familiar little car, where I decide it's time to "wake up".
" Jake?" I ask, knowing he will answer.
" Hey sweetie, it's about time you wake up. How you feeling?" he says, sitting right next to me.
We're in the car, but not moving. It's comfortable here, laying on Jake's lap and inhaling his pine aroma. He bends down and puts his cheek on mine.
" You're pretty cold or maybe it's because I'm nearly in flames."
I chuckle and he strokes my cheek. Feeling his hand graze against it, I have the urge to kiss him. I never act like this, but why does everything he seems to do make me happier inside. I'm not thinking straight; Jake isn't my true love. But right now, it doesn't seem like I have a true love. What would he do if he were here if he could see me? He wouldn't be here, he wouldn't come see me, he doesn't love me.
We sit in silence, until Jacob says my name. "Bella?"
"Yes?" I answer.
"What would you do if I kissed you?" He asks timidly, unsure of what I might say.
"Jake, I honestly don't know," I say closing my eyes.
"Well, here I go."
