Soulmate
Part 1: New Job, New Life
Nick's POV:
I couldn't understand why she could do something like that… We had been married for 2 years and she simply blew it. Like a sword had traversed my heart and broken it into a million pieces. I thought she was the one, but I was wrong. My life was a failure, I was a failure. The only thing I could do was just pack and move on… after all, I was worthless.
6 Months Later
The man took a zip of his caramel macchiato as Nick just kept his own thoughts in his head. "What will I do? Will he accept?" The words echoing in his brain, he started to feel paranoid.
"Young man, welcome to business." The man stood up, hopefully waiting Nick would accept the job.
Knowing how he was, Nick would stand up and scream until he was out of breath, but he simply stood up and shook the man's hand. "I'd be delighted to, Sir."
"Be here tomorrow at 6:00AM sharp… we don't want any problems do we?"
"Absolutely not, in fact, I can be there at 5:30 if you want."
"Let's not exaggerate; the store doesn't open until 6:00."
He felt a little embarrassed. "Oh, I'm sorry."
"Nice meeting you son." The man threw his coffee in the trash can.
"You too Sir." With that he exited the shop and made his way home.
[The Next Day]
"Here's your coffee Sir, thanks for buying at Starbucks." She closed the cash register as she handed the customer his coffee.
The doors widely opened as her best friend Demi entered and made her way to her. "Hey Lena, what'cha you doing?" She smiled at Selena like she always did.
"What does it look like I'm doing?" Selena briefly pointed at her outfit, chuckling slightly.
"Oh… yeah. Working." Demi shook her head at the thought of it.
"Well if I want the extra money I need to go to college, I have to get it someway…" Selena sighed as she served herself and Demi a latte.
Demi looked at her in wonder, and then her phone rang. "Excuse me." She said as she walked out to a corner.
Nick took a glance at the big huge letters in front of him; taking a deep breath he entered in the store and went to the counter. "Hello, I'm here for my new job here…"
Selena raised her head just to see a handsome curly brown hair man standing in front of her. Her heart started beating so fast she started sweating. "Umm… w-welcome to Starbucks what would be your order?"
He raised his eyebrows. "I'm here for my new job as an employee. Perhaps your boss told you?"
"Oh, yeah I heard. Here…" She grabbed a box filled with shirts and pants. "This is your uniform. Get dressed and then I'll tell you what you have to do." She handed them to Nick.
"Thanks." He took the box and went to change. Minutes later he came back wearing his uniform.
"Ok follow me…" She said as he followed her into the staff room.
After a whole tour through the store, he finally said "So what's my job?"
"Do you know how to make coffee?"
Nick smirked. "Who doesn't?
Selena rolled her eyes, in a not-mean way. "Ok so you'll be in charge of making regular coffee… easy huh?"
"Tell me about it… but then what about mochas, lattes, smoothies and other stuff?"
"That's not your job."
"Ok… so that's it? Nothing else to know?"
"Well, have you ever worked with coffee machines before?"
"Yeah… once or twice but yeah I do know how to."
"Then that ought to do it." She smiled. "Welcome to Starbucks…"
"Nick." He blurted out.
"Nick, yeah..." She walked out as she went to take an order.
Nick took a look at the huge coffee machine in front of him. He had no idea how to use this thing. He looked at the others as they made coffee. He tried to follow them, but it was useless, he got lost in every move he made. Instead of being smart and going to Selena, he did the opposite by trying to figure it out himself. His confidingness taking over, he pressed a random button to see if the machine will start. Unfortunately, he had made a disaster.
