The doors slid open and the two Jedi entered the council chamber.
Anakin Skywalker took off his hood and bowed before the Masters
of the Force that he stood before. Obi-Wan did the same. He
remained silent until Yoda spoke.
"Successful was you mission, I believe..."
"Yes Master Yoda," Obi-Wan replied.
"So, you discovered the cloning facilities there?" Mace Windu
asked. "This is... rather disturbing."
Obi-Wan nodded.
"Although the Republic allowed them leeway to perform genetic
enhancements on those who claim to require it, I do not believe
there is any clause that allows for cloning."
Ki-Adi-Mundi joined the conversation. "Only several special
facilities allow for anything such as this in the Republic and
they are under the direct supervision of important officials."
"I can assure you, Mister Klassrik was for from and important
official."
Yoda shook his head. "True, that is. If only we could have brought
him back. Questioned he could have been."
Anakin looked away from the Jedi Master's face. This act caught
Yoda's attention more.
"Something to say have you, Padawan Skywalker?"
"No Master," Anakin stuttered.
"The truth you must tell."
Anakin nodded reluctantly. "He attacked me with a vibro-blade.
I could have disabled him with the Force but my automatic reaction
was to use my lightsaber."
"A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense. Never for attack."
"But I was defending myself."
Mace Windu sighed. "You could have defeated him without even thinking
about it. You should not even consider attacking."
"Yes master Windu. Sorry."
"Apologise to us, you should not. A lesson today have you learnt."
Anakin just nodded.
"We will discuss the cloning discovery with Chancellor Palpatine,"
Ki-Adi-Mundi informed the two Jedi. Obi-Wan nodded.
"You may leave."
Anakin and his teacher left the chamber. Once the doors had closed
behind them the young padawan turned to Kenobi.
"You didn't tell them," he said.
"No, Anakin," was the reply. "My powers were blocked by the Ysylamiri,
I do not know if you used anger to kill the creature. I would like to
believe that you didn't."
"Believe me, master," Anakin noted solemnly. "I did not."
"The line that separates the Dark from the Light is a thin one and it
is an easy one to cross, albeit without realising until it is too late.
Master Yoda once told you that fear was the path to the Dark Side. Fear
leads to anger, which in turn leads to hate and then to suffering. And
not just the suffering of others, but also yourself."
Anakin obviously took all this in but did not respond.
"Be wary Anakin Skywalker," Kenobi said. "You may very well be the chosen
one but even to you the Dark Side remains a constant threat as it does
to all Jedi..."
