A/N: I immediately admit to liking the silly things introduced by the manga... especially the frame that prompted this.
"Right hand, blue," Xaldin dictated.
"I got this, I got this," Demyx replied, reaching around Zexion to get at the little circle on the mat. This took a little struggling - the nearest blue circle was right in the furthest corner (try to get your head around that if you wish), nearly out of reach - accompanied by a lot of grunting and panting that only a drama student could have uttered without embarrassment; but the Melodious Nocturne eventually made it and let out a woot of success that would have been followed by a solo had the sitar not been abandoned a little further away for the sake of the game.
The look on Zexion's face showed he was clearly wondering why his 'opponent' hadn't been named the Melodramatic Nocturne instead.
Xaldin snacked on some crisps as he span the wheel again. "Right leg, green."
Shrugging at his own thought, Zexion shifted his leg to just under Demyx's stomach. If he kicked IX on the way there, it was entirely intentional. If it got Axel laughing from his seat on the sofa just a small distance away, well, that was a plus.
It was at this point that the new (and verbally-challenged) recruit decided to make his way in, staring down at the game in progress with a completely blank look on his face.
Axel hoisted himself over the top of the backrest and stretched himself over it like a contented cat. "Hey, there, Roxas!" he said, smirking at the little guy. Number XIII was surely of an incredibly small height for his Other's age - four-foot-eight of pale skin, blue eyes and dirty-blond hair. It took sitting down and leaning back to even get level with his line of sight.
Roxas took a look at him, then back to the others. "What's this?" he asked in a near monotone.
"It's Twister! Wanna join in?" Demyx announced from his position on the floor.
Roxas shook his head. "What about your missions? Shouldn't you concentrate on them?"
"Exactly what I told them before they roped me into this," Xaldin replied from his snacking. "Right hand, yellow."
Number VIII scratched the back of his head, though the motion carried more of a casual attitude than normal. "We can't be dull boys, right?" he said.
"Or dull girls," Zexion added. "Larxene and Xion, remember?"
"Yeah, yeah. Sometimes we just have to have a break. Doesn't that make any sense to you?" Axel finished.
It took little more than ten seconds for Roxas to navigate around them and walk up to Saix to receive his orders, only for him to discover that Saix wasn't standing in his usual spot, and that there was a note on the window telling them all that the man in question was on a mission and that orders would henceforth be delivered by Xigbar, who at the moment was out of sight.
"He's on a break too." Axel's comment must have been incredibly unhelpful, for Roxas merely stood there without turning around. "Now, come on. Wanna play Clue? It's been a while since I had an opponent. For some weird reason, no-one wants to play me."
"...I'm going to go ask the Superior for my mission." And so Roxas walked out of the room again.
Demyx frowned. "Huh. Don't think your little Hikaru Genji project's working."
"Oh, shut it," Axel mumbled.
