Untitled Drabble

I never thought that this day would dome. I'm sitting here and at the moment I'm larger than a starship and clumsier than a first year cadet in command. I slowly rise up from my chair and place a hand on my swollen belly. It's finally all falling into place.
After everything that has happened to me in my life this amazes me. I'm amazed that I'm still alive to see this day. I have endured and accomplished so much in my lifetime. Starfleet Academy, graduating top of my class, making Captain. Missions that have tested ever fiber in my being, and lastly and certainly the hardest of all. losing my husband , my first officer , before I ever had the chance to tell him I was with child. I am so much stronger than I would have guessed, or maybe I'm just a stubborn woman.
Feeling another sharp pain I tap my combadge " Janeway to Sickbay...." and I inform them that I am in labor.

Seven hours later I hold a tiny infant to my chest while the doctor looks on from across the room. This child is so beautiful, dark hair and eyes under the hazy blue most infants have at birth. She looks like her father. I glance back up and see that the doctor is talking to me.
" What would you like to name her Captain?"
I contemplate it for a moment and then reply. "Kathryn, .... after my mother."
