A/N: I'm back, you guys miss me? I had a wonderful week and met new people and very glad that I took the opportunity. Now I am just trying to get caught up with things here in fanfiction and other sites and of course watching last week's episode… OMG! Seriously, that shit is crazy!
Anyways, I am trying to get things done before Tuesday morning… after then I'm not going to be up to too much for at least another week or so.
I started this story before I left and I wanted to finish it before I posted anything, but I decided against it. I'm thinking of making a multi-chapter story out of this but not sure yet. So, instead of leaving it to be forgotten with the other stories, I am posting this tidbit of a, hopefully, future story.
Feels great to be back, now I just have to get in the swing of things again and work on my other story.
Enjoy!
The young man he came to know and love was slipping through his fingers. He didn't deserve this, he had so much to look forward to, so much to experience, so much more living to do. This couldn't be the end, could it? After five months of getting to know each other, all of it was coming to a sudden end. Stuff like this wasn't supposed to happen to people who had not even started living. The thought of death shouldn't be running through a young person's mind or the acceptance of dying. It was all wrong, so terribly wrong.
"D-Derek." A weak smile was plastered on the younger man's face as Derek enters the hospital room. Derek snakes his way through the crowd of Stiles' beloved family and friends to kneel next to the boy's bed and grab the other's hand, bringing it up to his lips to lay a gentle kiss on the cold skin. "Y-you made i-it." The voice was weak and the kid was holding back coughing and trying to keep a strong face to hide obvious pain. Derek picks up the intertwined hands, bringing them up to his face and leaning into the touch.
Holding back tears, Derek swallows. "Didn't think I would let you go without saying good-bye, did you?" Untangling their hands, the younger man caresses Derek's face. Derek leans into the touch as a tear escapes.
"D-don't cry. A-all is well."
"Stiles."
"Your parents say that they're proud of you."
"Please, you can't…"
"Shhh, it's my time, Derek. Don't worry. M-mom's here, h-holding m-my other h-hand. I-I love y-you Derek a-and a-always will. P-promise me y-you'll find s-someone t-to be h-happy with." Derek wasn't fighting the tears any longer. "P-promise."
"I love you, Stiles."
