Kanan: A Star Wars Story
Prologue
(Kaller, Outer Rim)
A young Padawan sat beside his Master, who was meditating. She stiffened. "Master?" Her eyes opened in
shock. "Caleb, get your weapon ready." As she said this, their Clone troopers aimed their weapons at them.
Both Jedi ignited their sabers, and deflected laser bolts back at the men who fired them. Blocking shot after
shot, Caleb was confused. 'Why are they shooting at us?' It was then that they sensed Clones trying to
surround them. "We cannot win this battle. Run, Caleb. I'll be right behind you." Caleb faced his Master. "I
won't leave you!" His master was hit in the back just then. Caleb saw his Master go down, and he heard her
voice in his mind. "Run!" He knew he couldn't help her, and fled. He kept running, eventually jumping off a
cliff as the Clones fired at him. He fell into the woods, and the Clones pursued.
(Six years later)
A young man walked through a spaceport, a blaster hanging on his belt. A Stormtrooper noticed him.
"Halt." The young man stopped. "Identification, please." The young man presented it. The trooper
examined it, then said, "Proceed on, Mr. Jarrus. Have a nice day." As Kanan walked forward, he noticed a
Twi-lek girl, around his age, being bothered by drunkards. Drawing his blaster, he shot the weapons out of
their hands, and approached them. The Twi-lek faced him, before he dragged the two men off. Once he was
sure no one was watching, he waved his hand in front of their face. "You want to stop drinking." The men
slurred, "We want to stop drinking." Kanan continued. "You want to go home and rethink your lives." "We
want to go home and rethink our lives." With that, Kanan left them, and walked towards the local cantina,
intending on finding a job. What he wasn't expecting was the Twi-lek walking up to him. "Why did you help
me? No one ever helps me." Kanan faced her. "It's what I do." The Twi-lek faced him. "Who are you?" The
human faced her. "Kanan Jarrus." The Twi-lek extended her hand. "Hera. Hera Syndulla." Kanan nodded
politely. She then faced him. "Where are you headed?" "The cantina, to look for a job." She grinned upon
hearing that. Kanan faced her. "What?" The Twi-lek smirked at him. "It just so happens I'm looking for a
copilot." That got his attention. He leaned closer. "I'm listening."
