This is really not meant to make any sense. A random piece about Ho-oh, that's all I can say. More figurative than really substantial; this isn't even supposed to have happened. But well, Ho-oh must have left to guard the bells some time or another, right?
I made Ho-oh male here, though technically, it's genderless.
the sky turned red
The sky turned red
And he soared away through the heavens
Drawing a path of tears in an arch
A rainbow through the cosmos
-
When would he return?
He was smiling as he rose on his wings
A riot of flame and colour painted upon them
A gleam of hope within his burning black eyes
-
Beneath him, we watched his ascent
Caught the glittering teardrops in our hands
Saw the spirit depart to another realm
And we wondered to ourselves:
"Will he ever return?
Will he ever grace our land again?"
-
He said nothing.
All was silence in his masked face
As heavenly wings caught the bloodred sun
And raised a legend on the winds of time
-
Fading into the twilight, until his figure was no more.
-
Where has he lain, ever since?
We have not heard a word.
What is this duty that he believes
To be of more consequence than we?
-
But it is not our place to doubt the ancient words:
One day, he would leave to protect a treasure
And we knew it all along
We knew it all along...
-
The sky turned red
And we called out our well wishes in fading light
As our legend shed tears for his people,
Drew his shining signature of promise over us
A heavenly arch of light
And flew
Flew on to the place
Where destiny had called him to be
There. No sense at all.
