"No way..." I whispered at least a hundred times as I reread the letter over and over again. Ten minutes ago I received a letter in the mail from Soren stating that my sister, Mist, had passed away. I was momentarily bewildered as I thought of all of the hard times we had... all of the adventures we went on growing up.
"She can't be dead!" I told myself in my head. My thoughts turned into mumbles, my mumbles turned into whispers, my whispers turned into yells and screams.
"Ike? Ike! Ike, are you alright?" Link yelled on the other side of the door whilst he banged on it and jiggled the knob. I stood up and threw Ragnell into a mirror in rage. I just stood there and watched as the shards fell to the floor and tears escaped my eyes. I was alive, but I was dead on the inside. Link charged into the door causing it to open, and he was huffing and puffing. There was a fifteen second silence that seemed like an hour long until he finally spoke.
"Ike, are you okay? I heard you screaming."
"I'm fine." I replied back earnestly. His eyes glanced around the room. He noticed the broken mirror, then the crumpled letter on the floor. He bent down, flattened it out, and began to read it. All I could do was watch his eyes move from sentence to sentence whilst they slowly widened in shock.
"No way..." He whispered.
Ike,
It pains me to inform you that your younger sister Mist had gone missing. After her body was found, she was declared dead. We still do not know who would be so cruel as to do this, but I assure you, we are doing the best we can to find her murderer. Mist and you being gone has deeply affected the Greil Mercenaries. I hope to hear from you soon, and I'm terribly sorry for your loss.
Soren.
"Ike... I-"
"Shut up. I don't need your condolences. I can handle this on my own."
"But if you just-"
"Get out..."
"What?"
"Did I stutter? I said :Get out!" I swear, one more word from him and he'll be mysteriously found dead tomorrow morning. Nervous, he slowly walked out of my room. I walked back over to my bad, laid down on it, and looked up at the ceiling. Slowly, my eyes began to shut as I fell into a deep sleep. The news of my loss had spread like a wildfire. Link must have told Zelda, she told Peach, and Peach told everyone in this damned manor! Mario needs to do something about her before I do. I sat down in the dining room, ready to devour the meal before me. That was until all of the other smashers crowded around me.
"I understand where you're coming from, Ike. I lost my father when I was forced to flee my kingdom, and after that I lost my older sister Elice. If you need to talk about anything, just remember I'm here for you." Marth said as he tried to console me with his soft, calm voice. Everyone was being so loud and it continued for a few minutes until I finally cracked. People talking over each other saying the same thing as everyone else made something in my head snap. It reminded me of a broken record that needed to shut the hell up and be cast aside, which is exactly what I did.
"Shut up! All of you just shut up! Stop trying to help me! I'm fine! I can deal with this on my own! I don't need you during this time of so called 'need'! Just leave me alone, I'm fine!" They all knew I wasn't fine, and I couldn't get myself to believe it either.
