I've been dying to do a daddy Chang fic so here.

Disclaimer: I don't own the series

Inevitable

It started with a slap to the face and a flash of white hot rage. The boiling anger somehow not suiting those cool green eyes as she yelled bloody murder. Oh how he knew it wouldn't help matters but a slow grin spread across his face as his head snapped to the side. It was an honest mistake, she claimed later besides he deserved it.

The next time they met, he had to pick his nephew from school. She was there for a seminar she claimed. She wanted to slap him again he joked. Needless to say the following date went well. His brother wasn't happy though...something about forgetting some nephew at school.

So he met her often, days turned to weeks and months turned to...well more months and things got serious. He was in love. The fall was after all...inevitable.

Nothing lasts forever though...and there was an encounter. He and his fellow cops hunted down the biggest crime lord and plans were made to take him down. All went well...except for some strange reason his brother happened to be there...and was shot down. The rest was a blur as he lost his mind and his world fell apart. His hands painted with the blood of his associates he had to leave, had to get out of there. And so he did. He left behind his world, his life, his morals...and her. He left her behind. He fell into his own madness. The fall was after all inevitable.

Now at the top of his game...he looks upon the choices he made. He was selfish, broken, brash. He often wondered what happened to her, his family, his nephew. But that's the past. Time heals, time makes you forget. And he did. He forgot her along with other things...maybe it was some coping mechanism or maybe he was just that self absorbed. But all that changed when it happened all over again.

It started with a recklessly thrown punch to the gut and a flash of white hot rage and a face he knew was her's but not quite. But the anger that boiled in those gold eyes didn't seem so wrong. He deserved every bit of that hate and anger that the child felt. It was his fault that she was in this...life. So he did what he could. He did what he could to do what a father must. He taught her to survive. And though he wanted to confess, wanted her to know he was sorry for everything he couldn't do it. Maybe he was selfish and wanted what little he could get of her affection or maybe he was just a coward...afraid to face what he deserved. For once she knows she would only sink deeper just like he had...and he couldn't let that happen. At least for now. After all the fall was inevitable.
