A/N: This is my first long story! Which means there is a plot! Stay with me everyone, it's coming, but although I already have the story in my head, I need to get it out on paper!
Disclaimer: I don't own Twilight or any of the characters, just Sass.
Renesmee sat in the driver's seat, and checked her rear view window. She turned to make a pass, and saw her friend's face. Smiling to herself, she asked the girl sitting in the back 'How are we feeling Sass?'
Her high soprano voice came in a trill, sounding like a broken chord.
Sass looked up from her iPod, with a small frown. Her manga-styled dark brown hair was tucked behind one ear. She smiled, showing a perfect set of white teeth behind soft red lips. Renesmee smiled even more widely at her friend's natural beauty.
She rolled her eyes that Sass kept fiddling with her dress.
'Are we there yet?'
The car slowed down at the traffic lights.
Renesmee turned around and put her hand onto her friend's face.
'You could've just told me' Renesmee laughed her musical giggle.
'…Show-off' she said under her breath.
Renesmee heard this, although it was soft enough not to be heard.
'Ness! Stop it! I mean it! Stop eavesdropping!'
'Haha, wait till you meet my father. He just has to answer all your unasked questions.'
'I'm sure I'll have lots of them…'
As Ness waved off a car to go before them, Sass asked her friend 'So I'll have to limit my thoughts around him yes?'
Ness nodded, her brown eyes on the road.
'We're here. We're back...'
'Back home' Sass said with a smile
Ness jumped out the driver's seat, gracefully as ever. She darted around to open the door for her friend.
Sass nervously held onto Ness's arm.
'Why do I feel so nervous? It's not like I'm your boyfriend, coming to meet your family.' Sass gave a nervous chuckle.
'You remember everything I told you right? About them?'
'Yes, I do silly. Ugh! Don't worry, you're making me worry'
'Sorry sorry…'
Sass twisted slightly to catch her reflection on the car. She bit her lip.
'I shouldn't have worn a dress. It's like what I would wear to a first date…with your family!'
Ness gently rested her head onto her friend's shoulder.
'You look wonderful. You always do.'
She brushed a bronze curl off her friend's shoulder. Sass gently caught her hand. They smiled at the picturesque view.
'You look great! I wish I had your skin!'
'Are you kidding me Ness? You've got peaches and cream skin! Perfectly lovely, and glowy…and your hair!'
Ness gave a small smile.
'And look at your straight black hair. And your skin is beautiful, tanned. You look like Megan Gale'
Sass sighed.
'Well, if you expected me to freak when you told me everything…' she looked up at the windows on the mansion.
'Ness' she turned and looked her in the eye. 'What are they really like?'
'Mmm…cold!'
'And beautiful no doubt, just like you.'
Ness gave a wry chuckle.
'Come now, they'll adore you'
'Oh Ness I'm scared'
She touched the tip of her friend's nose.
'They will adore you, I promise you'
Ness gave Sass a hug. Then she held out her hand for her best friend. Together, they walked up the stair to the Cullen mansion.
'Now if I can just...' She gritted her teeth, and felt through her purse. As she put the key into the hole, someone from the other side opened it.
'Nessie!' Jacob grabbed her and swung her around in a circle. As he put her down, he leant gently down and trailed soft kisses down her throat.
'Awww how sweet'
Ness blushed gently and nudged Sass.
'This is my boyfriend Jacob. And this is my best friend Sass.'
Sass looked Jacob up and down.
'He seems kinda old for you…and big…'
Jacob glared at her for a moment. Ness put one soothing hand on his arm. 'She's right baby, you are old, you were seventeen at the time of my birth' Ness smiled up at him, adoration so clear in her eyes.
Jacob looked down into her brown eyes. He shouldn't have, he really shouldn't because now he lost himself in those eyes.
Sass cleared her throat. That moment really was too tender, more so than a kiss, or even a cuddle.
'I'm sorry Sass…right this way' Ness bowed her head, and led them all into the living room, where her family was seated.
Sass walked into the room, where they looked completely picture perfect. Blood rushed to her cheeks.
'Hello Sarah' Carlisle, the head of the family, smiled at her. She blinked. She had expected the young doctor to be model-like. He did not disappoint. And for his wife, she reminded one of the Golden Days of cinema.
On the couch, sat the miniature pixie. And resting his head on her lap was the tall blonde man who reminded her of a movie star. And Emmett and Rosalie, Sass supposed. She didn't want to think about them, they looked so perfect for each other; her utter heartbreaking beauty playing against his masculinity.
She heard a slight cough. Turning, she noticed the last couple. Bella was the only other brunette in the family, but while she was also just as beautiful as the rest, there was something about her that drew one in to comfort her. Sass thought she just looked bland…that she had no personality, looking adoringly at the other man. As she thought this, the man's face contorted slightly. Just slightly. There was something unsettling about him. Sass didn't like him. He looked dangerous. Like either he would protect you forever or he would hate you forever. He looked so much like Ness…so much, from the colour of his hair, to his terrifying features and his air of confidence.
Sass glanced nervously back at her best friend.
'Um…hello'
'I like them Ness'
Ness frowned and laid one hand on Sass's cheek. Sass pushed the hand away.
'No I mean it.'
'Sass! Be serious! It's my family! And you're my best friend…what did you think of them?'
'They're beautiful. Gorgeous'
Ness rolled her eyes 'Yes but anyone could tell me that. What I meant was what did you think of them, and how you got along with them' She crawled over to Ness's side of the bed.
'Tell me…please?'
Sass narrowed her eyes at her friend.
'No'
'In the morning?'
Sass groaned and pushed Ness's hand away again.
'Like I said, they are beautiful, and Jacob is good looking too, but not good for you.'
Ness pushed herself onto her elbows and looked up at Sass.
'What makes you say that?'
'He's…just…well he's like a boy, but a man at the same time. He reminds me of my last boyfriend. Just pray he doesn't get all clingy with you'
'I doubt he could get clingy with me after seven years!'
'Just pray Ness' laughed Sass.
'I will then'
She jumped on top of the blankets, and sat up on her heels. 'Dear Father…I pray my dearest boyfriend will still love me in another seven years and I pray he will not get angry with any boy that comes within a five mile radius of me. Amen'
Sass gave a giggle, her voice breaking as Ness put her warm fingers onto her lips.
'Shhhhh…'
She pushed her hand out of the way again.
'What? No one needs to sleep here…oh wait, apart from Jacob. But he's got his own room yesh?'
'Um…yesh'
'Good, so let's talk!'
Ness looked confused. 'About what?'
'School's starting next week! Ooh I can barely wait! All those juicy morsels to choose from…mmm'
Ness laughed. She was so used to her man-eater of a friend.
'Yes and when their mouths melt in mine…oh it's so wonderful'
'Stop…stop' Sass laughed and covered Ness's mouth. 'That's disgusting!'
'What did you expect from a half vampire?'
'A lot better…'
Ness yawned, her pink lips ripping up to reveal her teeth.
'Oh great! Now I'm going to catch it!'
Ness laughed, and tucked her tired friend in.
'Good night Sarah'
'Night Nessie…'
Each grabbed their end of the blanket, and fell asleep, heads turned away from each other.
Sass raised her head just slightly to look at the alarm clock near Ness's side. It was still the morning. That was a good thing. She rose out of her side of the double bed very gracefully, but yawning. She had the strangest dream last night…it felt like someone was calling her in her sleep. That didn't seem such a good thing. Her eyes were bleary, and she rubbed the sleep out of them. She took a couple of steps out the door, when a scary sight stopped her.
'Whoa!'
Upon second look, she realised the man sitting on the chair next to the door was Jacob. She narrowed her eyes at him.
'Just what do you think you're doing here?'
He gave a winning smirk.
'What do you think?'
'I think you've taken this imprinting thing a little too far! PDA's are one thing, but watching her sleep? That's just plain creepy.' Sass gave a small shudder to illustrate her point further.
'Aw, but Nessie loves it! Don't you baby?' he tiptoed over to her side of the bed, and brushed one finger across her cheek. Sass had to clap her hand over her mouth to stifle the laughs. The sight was so funny, that monster of a man tiptoeing across a room, to lean over a delicate girl of 5'7.
'Alright alright! You don't have to caress her in her sleep!'
'Hey! I was here first, alright?' Jacob leaned threateningly over Sass. She glowered angrily at him; it seemed like they were never going to get along.
'Oh go chase a bone'
He rolled his eyes.
'Like I haven't heard that one before' Sass covered her mouth again, a grin threatening to break her steely-eyed look.
He stole a look at her, and then grinned.
'Sorry'
'...Me too'
It was roundabout now that Ness woke up. Jacob was beside her in a moment, raising her head gently so she wouldn't need to exert herself. Even though Sass knew she had a sheltered life, and almost everything in her life surrounded her, she never knew this was what it was like to live as Ness.
She gave her eyes a roll. As if she needed to be sheltered! Unbreakable that's what they all were, so Nessie was perhaps the human out of all of them. While Sass was thinking these deep philosophical thoughts, Ness had already gotten dressed (much to Jacob's chagrin) and was picking out Sass's outfit for the day too.
Ness really took charge that day. She led Sass around to the kitchen, where Edward was calmly flipping pancakes. The delicious aroma finally brought Sass to her senses. And by the looks of it, Jacob too.
Ness inspected her plate with an appalled look.
'Dad! You know I don't like eating pancakes'
'Any more than I like cooking them. The smell is too strong, too bland…much like chicken.'
Jacob and Sass looked up simultaneously from their plates.
'You mean like, it smells like a chicken?'
'Yes'
'Cooked or raw?'
Ness bonked Jacob over the head.
'What do you think genius? Obviously cooked pancakes don't smell like cooked chicken'
Jacob feigned pain.
'Easy there gorgeous!'
Edward rolled his eyes and went to look for Bella.
Ness smiled, and put both hands on either side of her plate. Jacob's hand trailed softly around her pale arm.
Sass looked up from her plate of pancakes quickly.
'Ah I think I'm just going to leave…yeah…just…go' she walked away mumbling.
Ness looked up and smiled at Jacob. He held her close, and put his head into her hair, smelling in her scent.
'You smell amazing'
'As do you' She turned around to look at him. 'It still surprises me how that even though I am half-vampire, and you were made for well…hunting me, I still smell nice to you'
Jacob leaned back and looked at her.
'Weird isn't it?' he laughed, rubbing the small of her back with his hand. 'But you're my imprintee, and that just rules everything out completely. Don't worry babe, that's not the only reason why I love you'
'Unconditionally…' she kissed his forearm, making him sigh.
Jacob's phone buzzed. Freeing one hand to reach into his back pocket, he flipped it open.
'Just a text.' He pushed it back into his pocket, and proceeded to lean down and kiss Ness full on the lips.
A/N: This is quite boring so far, but it gets better...I hope!
