Prologue: "The Curse That Change It All"
We are not meant to be alone. Long before we are sent from above, fate plays a very important part in our coming. Before we enter this world kicking and screaming, our whole path is carefully laid and marked for our feet to follow. However, there are things that not even destiny can grasp.
The moment humans were granted the privilege of freewill, destiny became an optional road for us to walk on, but it always tries to mend our walks in order to bring us to the finish line regardless of the unexpected turnarounds.
The reason for the problem that affected two souls, whom never caused any danger or threat to others, started many lives ago and takes us back to the glory days ofAncient Rome. Here, a girl trained in the dark arts that no human should be allowed to know and caused the whole world around her to change.
This witch was suffering from a broken heart; the boy she loved - a man we later should know as Monsieur Thénardier - had succumbed his heart in favor of another. She was sure that fate's will was for her and the boy of her affections to be joined, but she couldn't be more wrong. Angered, jealous and out of her head, she used the forbidden powers bestowed on her hands to cast a powerful curse despite the price of her soul.
After this life was over, the young boy that had stolen her heart would not be able to love another human being. Lust for flesh and treasures would replace what had once been a loving, caring heart. The punishment for the girl would be more severe; after considering the dreadful punishment of not being able to produce offspring, the young witch settled for something more heartbreaking. After this life was over, the girl that had stolen what mattered most from the witch would suffer not only having to settle down with the ghost of her soul mate, but would also see her oldest child fight with nails and claws in the name of love. But she would never be united with her soul mate.
Cursing this family to an eminent future of despair and lack of love, the young witch took her life, waiting in the underworld to see how the story that she had helped create would evolve life after life.
That was the last time that the souls we've come to know as Enjolras and Eponine were granted to be together. They were meant to be together since the beginning of time, but would destiny grant them a second chance?
