Summary: The deadly Inu Demon, Sesshomaru, has taken in Kagome into his estate to teach his ward Rin. In the process can Sesshomaru tame the miko with her serpent tongue?
A/N: This is my first story, so reviews are welcomed and would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy! Oh and I suck at summaries so trust me it is better than the summary sounds. Please review. These characters are out of character.
Chapter one: An Intrusion into Sesshomaru's Life
Sesshomaru came upon a rather intriguing scene as he drew closer to the camp of his bastard half-brother and his pack. His ward had been spending the last month with the pack while he had diplomatic matters to attend too. Rin had no qualms with the arrangement it meant she had time to play with the kitsune and learn reading, writing, and basic math skills from his brother's bitch.
Upon entering the camp he came across the half breed and miko arguing like uncivilized adults. To him they sounded like squabbling new born pups fighting over a toy. His unexpressive amber eyes fell onto his ward and the kitsune sitting beside the Miko's over stuffed bag. The two children were lying on the grass with pieces of paper in front of them with pieces of colored wax in their hands. It struck him as amusing to see the children behaving themselves while the alphas of the pack bickered like children.
"Fine run off to the woman made of clay!" Kagome yelled after the now retreating form of Inuyasha. The scent of salt water assaulted the powerful demon lord's nose as it filled the air. As he smelt the tears he could see the miko's shoulders tremble with pent up emotions as she tried to hold back from crying. He watched as the Kitsune and Rin tried to comfort the woman who they both looked up to as a mother like figure. Inside the stoic faced demon lord wished he could easily come in and take his ward without having to face the emotional woman but knew now this would not be the case due to his half brother.
The moment he stepped into the view of camp, an energetic Rin ran to him attaching herself to his leg. He reached down gently stroking her hair as an acknowledgement. Kagome forced a smiling face as she turned to face the demon lord, "Good Morning Lord Sesshomaru." She said in a cheerful voice but her scent told of her emotional termoial. He gave her a slight nod he turned to leave with his ward but was stopped suddenly by Kagome. "Must you go?" She asked practically desperate for him not to leave her. Sango and Miroku had returned to the demon slayer village and were not dew to return for a few more months. There was no rush for them to come back since Nakura had been defeated recently. Rin looked up at her Lord lightly tugging on his arm sleeve with pleading eyes. Before Sesshomaru could refuse the miko was already gathering her things together to travel with him. "I could teach Rin along with Shippo being there it would be good for the both of them to continue their studies together. Plus Rin and Shippo could use a place where they would have to exercise good manners considering I am sure you have nobles around all the time. You wont even know I am there I will be the silent tutor and nanny for the two children. This way you could get more work done without constantly worrying if Jaken is being kind to Rin." Kagome smiled at him as she picked up Shippo not allowing Sesshomaru to answer she finished with, "Then it is settled I will come live with you until I can fully finish my job here in this era with the Jewel." Before Sesshomaru had a chance to protest Rin screamed for joy knowing now she could play with Shippo everyday.
Rin looked up at her Lord; her face was alight with excitement of having another child to play with and a new tutor to teach her. She did not like her current teachers but Sesshomaru was always to busy to find her new teachers she would like, "Maru-kun, is this not great! Now, Rin will have a new tutor and a playmate in the castle!" Sesshomaru relented to Rin he would never admit he had a soft spot for the child the only response he gave her was a slight nod in response.
The trip to the palace was filled with Sesshomaru trying to convince himself he was the one that made the choice of the Miko living with him to train his ward. He refused to give into the fact he could not say no to a mere human child and her new blabbering tutor and her kitsune.
Sesshomaru pinched the bridge of his nose the sun had yet to rise and a headache was already setting in. His mind was going over the past few weeks events. He had gone to pick Rin up from what the child had started calling play dates with Shippo. When he had arrived he found the half breed and wench arguing once again over frivolous things from what he could tell. The next thing he knew the wench had invited herself into his home without taking into consideration that it was HIS home that SHE invited herself too. The miko had been living under his roof for a few weeks now and her damn tongue of hers kept infuriating him, every day it was something new with that woman.
His amber eyes landed on a cherry wood box that rested on his desk holding the precious jewel many demons cherished. With the woman along came more trouble than she was worth. He had now become the sworn protector of the sacred jewel and its owner. The jewel was fully complete and Nakura was no longer present in the world of the living. But the jewel was not fully purified, for the miko could not control her powers enough to take on such a task he believed it to be a lack of concentration on her part. So now the jewel resides under his protection till Kagome is fully trained to finish her duties to this era. Which left him baffled what had she meant by this 'era'? When he would ask for answers he would get nothing of any use to answer his question from the girl or kitsune.
flash back
A week has passed since Kagome had started living in the palace of the Western Lord. Shippo had settled in well and was overly excited to be living with someone close to his age who would play with him. Kagome on the other hand was having a hard time settling into the castle, she possessed the full sacred jewel in a castle filled with demons. At night she would sleep clutching the jewel or not sleep at all. This had become a burden on her body causing her to waste away in an unhealthy manner.
This night she could not rest her mind kept playing tricks on her. Every slightest movement set her on alert, here eyes were wide as she at on her bed scanning her room the oil lamp beside her bed did not hold the power to light her entire room. She sat in paranoia through out the night, till early morning when she heard some one opening the doors to her room. Without thought she released a wave of purification energy towards the helpless maid.
Sesshomaru sense the release of a powerful energy in his home in an instant he was in Kagome's bed room his sword drawn. He saw it as threat on his estate when she released her powers in his home. He bared his fangs to her as he had her pinned to her bed. "What is the meaning of this miko!" He barked out. Kagome looked up into the face of her captor she could see his amber eyes bleeding into crimson. Sesshomaru tightened his grip on her neck as she refused to answer him, "Answer me before I decide to take your life."
Kagome tried to pull on the hand chocking her away from her neck, "The jewel…." Was all she managed to get out with his death like grip around her throat. Sesshomaru's interest was peaked he loosened his grip on the girl's throat for her to elaborate. "Speak" A calmer western lord commanded.
"I am the sacred jewel's protector. Ever since the day I arrived in this era demons have been after me looking for it. I was the one who shattered it once, but now that it is complete again I fear that every demon I come across will steal it from me." Kagome explained hoping that would be enough for the demon lord to let go of her.
Sesshomaru scented no distrust coming from her person he backed off her as he released her throat. "Why do you not make a wish Miko and then the jewel will be no more of this world." Kagome's shoulder's slumped, "Nakura tainted the jewel past what my powers can fix. As you can understand traveling with Inuyasha does not allow me the time to train my powers."
Sesshomaru looked at the jewel hanging from the young woman's neck resting between her well developed breasts. He reached out cutting the chain that held it around her neck catching the jewel in his palm, he inspected it closer he had no true desire for the power the jewel held. Kagome tried to snatch it back from him, "Give it back you manner less jerk!" She yelled, but her breath was wasted on him. "This Sesshomaru shall keep the jewel and you miko will train." He said as he left. "I have a name!" Kagome yelled after his retreating form.
End flash back
The chair groaned under the weight of the demon lord as he leaned back into it, he turned his attention away from the box that held the sacred jewel. His weary eyes rested on the horizon of his lands the first rays of light were peaking over the horizon onto his lands signaling the start of a new day, and a new headache.
Kagome rolled over onto her stomach as the sun's rays filled the room through the window waking her from her peaceful sleep and warming her bare back. She let out a yawn as she stretched out her muscles mimicking a cat. She wrapped her body in the cool silk sheets from her bed as she walked out onto the balcony tucking her ebony hair behind her ears. She admired the lands that Sesshomaru ruled over. She let out a dreamy sigh as she leaned against the balcony railing, "To bad these peaceful lands do not resemble the lord who rules them." She said softly to herself. "If he was half as peaceful as his lands resemble I would gladly bow to him any day." She said in a wishful tone.
She did not notice as a servant come in laying out an outfit for her during the day. "Ma'am" the servant said timidly causing Kagome to jump she held the sheet closer to her nude body. The maid kept her head bowed, "Lord Sesshomaru has sent for you to be on time for breakfast this morning." Kagome did not acknowledge what the young maid had said; her fingers were busy tracing the petals of the red roses on the sleeves of the black kimono. She picked up the kimono slipping being a changing screen; the maid began to fidget nervously. "Lady Kagome. My lord is waiting for you down in the dinning hall."
Kagome came out from being the screen brushing her long ebony locks, "I heard his request. Thank you for telling me. I will go down soon enough." She said with a smile the maid bowed and quickly left. Kagome looked at her reflection as she fixed her hair into a traditional bun. She smiled softly when she heard the soft thumping of small feet running down the hall way followed by a slower heavier step.
Two sets of eyes peered into the room from a crack in the door way. Both sets of eyes lit up upon seeing Kagome already awake and dressed for the day. They two children threw open the door crying out, "Good Morning Sensei!" Kagome laughed at their antics as they attached themselves to her legs. "Good morning to you two," She looked to see Ashia an older maid in the door way, "Good Morning Ashia." Kagome said kindly. "May we have breakfast out in the garden today Ashia." The two children's faces lit up as they heard they were getting to spend the day out in the gardens.
Ashia smiled, "I see you won't be joining the master in the dining hall then like you told someone." She laughed, "I will have your meals brought to you." The older woman watched as the two children took hold of Kagome's hands and led her out to their favorite spot in the garden.
Sesshomaru had waited on the Miko to come down and join him as he had sent for more than an hour ago. As the time passed by he became more and more agitated with the young miko. He had allowed her into his home and was now a protector of her and her kitsune, yet she kept on disregarding his demands. No other living being would still be living if they had acted the same way towards his person as this woman has been. She had claimed to come here and teach the children manners, yet in his eyes she had no manners of her own. He left the dinning hall leaving behind two plates with cold food left on the table he would not take her actions any longer.
He knew where she would be she would be with the children as usual out in the gardens teaching them how to read and write. As he passed by his hired help and guards his emotionless mask was in place but his aura told anyone who stepped in his way there would be pain to suffer for their acts. Kagome picked up on the fowl mood of the Western Lord as he approached. She nodded to Ashia, who had joined them for their lessons for the day, as a sign for her to take the children off to play. Kagome appeared calm as he came closer she sat calmly underneath the tree she had moments ago been teaching reading to the children too. "Good Afternoon Lord Sesshomaru." She said sweetly.
Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed at the woman in front of him, "You were to come to breakfast with this Sesshomaru." He said flatly watching Kagome as she stood gracefully to full height with her books in arms, "I had previous engagements that I was not demanded to attend." She said looking him in the eyes. She would not be told what to do by the Western Lord she was not a servant to him nor would she ever be commanded around like a dog. "Now if you excuse me Sesshomaru, I must prepare for tomorrows lesson plan for the children." She walked past him without his permission to leave or his dismissal.
Sesshomaru's eyes bled from amber to a crimson red, he let out a threatening growl as she roughly grabbed the arm of the Miko. He slammed her up against a tree causing her to drop the books she was caring they both heard the sleeve of her kimono rip. She felt his claws digging into her skin. He caught the faint scent of her fear he leaned his head in closer to the point they were nose to nose. "You will not disrespect this Sesshomaru any longer. You will come when I call upon you and you will obey what I say like the good little bitch you will become my little bitch." He said in a deep guttural voice. He leaned his head down to her neck he cause the faint scent of her arousal from his proclamation a wicked smirk flickered across his lips before he sank his fangs into his shoulder leaving a courting mark. He withdrew his fangs running his talented tongue over the bite marks sending a shiver down the young miko's spine. "You belong to this Sesshomaru and no one else shall have what is mine. I will tame you and your serpent tongue." He whispered in a husky tone into the miko's ear.
Kagome shivered from the demon lord's hot breath on the shell of her ear. She closed her eyes trying to keep her composure about her but was slowly loosing the battle. She thanked the kamis above as a red headed fox general trotted over to the pair against the tree. The general bowed deeply to his lord, "Lord Sesshomaru you have a message from the Lord in the Northern Kingdom. He says you had told him you would be at his palace by early afternoon today. Sire you must keep your word with the Northern Lord we both know the alliance with the north was established on shaky grounds." Kai, the head general, slowly looked up at his lord and the lady he had currently pinned against a tree. "It is urgent that you go my lord so we do not have to prepare for a war."
Sesshomaru growled as he pulled away from Kagome he turned on the heels of his feet and stormed off to meet with the Northern Lord he was not happy about this change of events. His mind was reeling with questions as to why he was attracted to the Miko and why he had just placed a courting mark on to the human girl. He hoped this visit to the north would clear his mind of all these things so when he returned he could think clearer and make sense of his actions.
Kagome slid down the trunk of the tree, her large brown eyes were filled with shock from what just happened. She looked up at Kai with an astonished look in her eyes the demon general grinned down at the miko then turned to leave her to her thoughts.
