The New One

Kitty has returned to Earth to find that a new Star Trek movie was released while she was gone. A huge fan, Kitty can't quite understand why no one wanted her to see it. If you've seen the movie you'd probably understand. BTW, loved it, and I'm a Trekkie. Oh, one minor detail, I'm from Texas, and I'm not putting down the Cowboys. Don't own either of these.

"I'm givin' it all she's got, Captain!" the familiar Scottish Brogue burst over Xavier's 42" High Definition Television. Whatever Emma was, Kitty thought, she wasn't cheap, only the biggest and best for the school. She'd probably have beaten Jerry Jones for that huge one over Cowboys' Stadium if she'd had some place to put it.

The room was strangely silent. Logan, Kurt and Peter had gone to see it when it had come out and the theaters had been filled with laughter when Scott had broken out into that oh so familiar line. Illyana looked at Kurt and shrugged. She'd told them that Kitty might not be pleased with it, it was so radically different. But then, she might like it, it was so radically different.

The fact was Kitty had been silently curled up in Peter's arms chewing on the same handful of popcorn for most of the movie. Even the appearance of Leonard Nimoy hadn't elicited a response. Illyana on the other hand, had spent most of the evening watching her best friend and her brother a small, knowing smile fixed on her face. Finally, the movie ended with Leonard Nimoy's voice superimposed over the view of the Enterprise soaring out of view.

Logan pushed the stop button as Kitty let out a sigh, "Well, that was…different." No one ventured an opinion as she continued to digest the radical shift in Star Trek lore. "That was actually quite good! You didn't want me to see it! McCoy was dead on!"

Several explosive sighs of relief were let out around the room. "Well, we weren't sure how you'd take that, Punkin'. The best summary of that movie I've heard was that it was basic enough for anyone off the street, but with enough inside jokes to satisfy the common Trekkie," Logan said as he stood and grabbed his beer. "Good night."

Kurt soon joined Logan in his farewells and journey out of the room. Illyana looked at both of them, "You won't reconsider being my roommate."

Kitty nearly choked on the last bit of popcorn as Peter solicitously patted her back, "No, Illyana, I think your brother might object." They watched her flounce from the room in a huff. "Next thing you know she'll be asking when I'll be her sister," Kitty whispered as she hugged herself to his side, her arms going as far around him as they could.

Peter bent down and kissed her, "Who knows, it just might happen," he whispered with tears in his eyes. The miracle had happened, the two most important women in his life were back, and he was content.

Sloppy ending, I know, but I'm a bit tired. Please R&R
