Two years into marriage, which already felt like forever, Twister, an award winning director and documentary filmmaker, and Adam, the owner and head chef of the most popular restaurant in Brooklyn called, 'Shalom Mexíco,' were nothing but content in their lives. By 4th of July weekend, the two decided to take a break from their lives and take a trip to their condo in Boca Raton, Florida. However, Twister was called into work and had to film another documentary. So Adam headed there first and Twister was to condo was on the top floor of their building, very lavish and spacious. Since they both work hard, they decided to buy one and rent it out to guests when it wasn't being used. Of course, they had to bring their dog, Molly, with them.
That week later in the evening, Twister walked into their condo and was greeted by Molly, who wagged her tail and jumped in delight. Twister patted Molly on the head before he called out, "Adam? Babe? You here? I'm home!"
Walking towards the balcony with Molly following him, he saw Adam setting the table. Adam turned and saw his husband staring at him and smiled.
"I didn't hear you come in." He chuckled nervously.
"What is all this?" Twister asked.
"I made us dinner." Adam smiled.
"Is this for us?" Twister asked surprised.
Adam made a face and said withs sarcasm in his voice, "No, sweetheart. I made the meal for the ghost living in our condo."
"What? The condo is actually haunted?" Twister started to somewhat freak out only for Adam to laugh.
"Babe, I made a joke." He walked over and embraced him. "Welcome home."
Laughing, Twister kissed his husband and said, "This is awesome. What did you make?"
"I made lobster with roasted vegetables and a small Caesar salad and for dessert, a New York style cheesecake with a red heart chocolate ganache on top."
Smiling, Twister kissed his husband and said, "I should go away more often."
The two love birds sat down as Adam poured a very high priced white wine in the glasses for Twister and himself. Adam raised his glass and said, "Well...here's to our happy two years of marriage."
"Yeah. To us." Twister tapped his glass against his husband's and the two enjoyed their meal. If love had a taste, it would definitely be made by Adam Konigsberg-Rodriguez. The two talked over dinner about work, catching up with family and friends. Molly was watching her owners eat, practically begging for food. Before they knew it, it was time for cheesecake and boy did they devour it. Twister leaned back into his chair and said, "I'm full. I can't eat anymore."
"That was the best meal I've made so far." Adam said pridefully.
"Anything you make," Twister started, "I can taste the love in it."
Adam smiled and said, "I'm greatful for you."
"Thanks for letting me keep a Christmas tree the amount of time we were married." Twister smiled.
"Of course I'd never let you give that up. That's what I love about you. Besides, I've grown to enjoy your holidays." Adam stated and then got up. "Come on. Let's take the dishes inside and take Molly for a walk on the beach."
"Honey, if I move, I will burst." Twister replied. "I'll go on a mental walk with you though."
"Oh no," Adam took his husband's hand and forced him up from his seat, "you're coming..."
Still bloated from eating all of that delicious food, Twister had to forced himself to walk with Adam on the beach. Molly ran ahead of them. The ocean sparkled under the sun and it looked romantic. As they walked, Adam started, "So...do you miss home?"
"New York home or Ocean Shores home?" Twister asked.
"Ocean Shores home." Adam replied.
"I do." Twister answered."I miss my family and friends. I miss Mad Town. As much as I love your cooking, I miss Tito's fish tacos."
"Cheating on me already?" Adam joked.
"Only with fish tacos." Twister laughed. "But I do miss home from time to time. But it doesn't mean I'm not happy with our lives now."
"No I feel ya." Adam said. "I miss my parents and sister. I feel bad she's getting older and I missing out on her growing up."
"Would you ever want to move back?" Twister asked.
"I was thinking about it. I could possibly open up another Shalom Mexíco near Ocean Shores and we can sell our apartment in New York." Adam replied.
"What about the restaurant in Brooklyn?" Twister asked.
"Greg has been bugging me to have more responsibility. So this will give him something to do. Plus, I still own the place and I can fly back and forth. Besides, if we ever want to start a family, I don't think New York will be the best place but that's just me." Adam told Twister.
Twister looked up at his husband and said in surprised, "Wait...start a family? Are you pregnant?"
"Yes, honey, I missed my monthly. That's why I'm so moody and craving so many things." Adam chortled. "Babe, I was going to surprise you tonight but I called an adoption agency back at home and they might have a baby for us."
Smiling so happily that it reached his eyes, Twister threw himself into Adam's arms and started to cry.
"Are you serious? We're going..."
"We're going to be daddies." Adam laughed.
The two held each other and let the excitement sink in. This was the newest chapter of their lives. Sharing a kiss and staring into each other's eyes, Twister then said, "Wait a minuet, I thought Molly was our baby."
Adam shook his head and said, "She's our fur baby. Come on. Let's go inside before we get eaten up by beach flies."
Molly noticed the guys walking ahead and chased after them.
That night, the boys laid in their bed. The master bedroom was light blue on the walls with a beach decor. There was a king size bed with dark blue sheets and a canopy above and two nightstands beside the bed. The furniture was mostly coastal wood and matched the room perfectly. There was a desk off to the side and a TV in front of the bed.
Twister sat on his laptop editing a film while Adam was reading one of The Three Musketeer books, which he got Twister into. Twister eyed his husband and said, "Didn't you read that already?"
"Yeah. I never get tired of it." Adam chuckled as he turned a page.
Adam took off his glasses and said, "So are you okay with leaving New York so we can start a family back home?"
"I'm okay with it. So what's up with this adoption agency?" Twister asked as he moved his computer to the side.
"Well, the woman I spoke to said the candidate is going through a divorce and she is pregnant." Adam explained.
"Bummer." Twister replied.
"Tell me about it." Adam added. "Anyway, the woman who is pregnant doesn't want to put her child through this and she decided to give up her child for adoption. So that makes up potential candidates."
"What would we need to do?" Twister asked.
"Well she would need to interview us and then observe our living situation and if we pass, we can adopt."
"Do you think we have a chance?" Twister asked.
"What do we have to hide?" Adam smiled.
Smiling back, Twister laid against Adam and Adam held his husband against him.
"Do you care what we have?" Twister asked.
"Not really but letting you know, he or she is going to learn how to skate." Adam answered.
"And surf." Twister quickly added. "Taking up after their dads."
"Exactly." Adam replied.
Molly jumped on the bed and made herself comfortable in between Twister and Adam. Twister scratched her behind her ears as Adam reached over to his lamp and shut off the light.
