I don't own, the Doctor, or Rose, kudos to the BBC for them. Also this was originally on teaspoon, as Dead Red Roses, but I'm publishing it here too.

Chavs and Tears

'Yo Rose,' said the Doctor, strutting in with his coat on.
'What the hell are you doing?' she asked him, stifling a laugh as she saw his pinstriped trousers were tucked into his socks.
'I'm a chav! Biggin' it up, mate,' he said
'You have no idea do you?' Rose said, laughing.
'What?'
'Well you've got the lingo and the socks but you need to put your collar up.'
'Like this?' he said, sorting it out and then winking at her.
'Yeah,' The Doctor fired up the Tardid and away they went.

After a rather awful landing (even by the Doctor's standards) Rose said 'So, where are we today?'
'Cardiff, 7th November 2006'
Rose's face fell a mile.
'What is Cardiff just too weird after all the crazy stuff we've done there?'
'No its just, that's the anniversary of my Dad's death,'
'Oh Rose, I'm so sorry,' he said, and pulled her into a hug.
'It's alright,' she told him
'No, no it's not I should have remembered.
'It's fine,' she said firmly and shaking him off walked out.

When she was safely in her room the sadness over whelmed her and she cried, not only for the memory of her Dad, but for losing Mickey too. The sobs racked her body and the torment of her mind was so intense she didn't here the Doctor enter the room or recognise his presence until he sat down on her bed and put an arm round her.
'Shush, shush, it's ok,' he said, comforting her.
'Sorry,' she murmured, taking deep shuddering breaths.
'This isn't just about your Dad is it?' he said, no reply. 'I'm sorry you had to lose Mickey too,'
'You never even liked him!' she said, half laughing, half crying.
'He was ok,' he said, but seeing her disbelieving stare added, 'I guess,'
She punched him playfully on the arm.
'Hey, how about we stay in the Tardis for today and, chill out,' he suggested, opting for the chav accent again.
'Yeah, that'd be good,' she said, smiling weakly
He hugged her again and didn't let go for a very long time.
