EXPLANATIONS OF POWER

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER

One-shot HISB interlude taking place a little after "The Power Quest Part II". Power Rangers belongs to Haim Saban and Nickelodeon. I only own the plot.

Jason waited until the others had teleported out of the Command Center and then turned to Zordon with a serious look upon his face.

"Jason, I sense that there is something troubling you. What is it?" the wizard asked.

"You said that Drago, Stega, and Brachio Coins were different from ours in that they didn't activate until they sensed their wielders nearby. Does that mean you could've just given the other coins to anybody?" Jason wondered. And if so, why us? What made us so special a year ago? he wondered. Zordon frowned slightly. He had been expecting the question, but hadn't expected it to come from the leader of the Rangers.

"Ai-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi! Jason, what are you getting at?" Alpha wondered before the sage could answer.

"Well, I mean, we were just a bunch of fifteen-year olds. Why not get soldiers or other types of fighters?" Jason wondered.

"Though the original Coins don't work in quite the same way as the Drago, Stega, and Brachio Coins, the Power is not meant for just anyone. Each of you possessed the qualities necessary to bear the responsibility that rests upon your shoulders," Zordon told him.

"So you're saying that the Power chose us? Even Tommy?" Jason queried.

"Precisely. If he was not the true wielder of the Dragon Coin, it most likely would not have accepted him, though I cannot say that for certain as it had been twisted by evil," Zordon responded.

"And that's why you and the others have been able to share some of your energy with each other," Alpha told him, referring to the times that they had done so by giving each other high-fives before battling Putties. Jason nodded. That made sense. Then, something occurred to him.

"What would've happened if we turned down Power Rangers?" he asked.

"Then the world as you and your friends know it would've been enslaved long ago," came the answer.

"Oh, man," Jason sighed. I can't believe it. If we had never accepted, Rita would've won, he realized. "I don't even want to think about that," he stated. Then, "I better go." With that, he teleported out of the Command Center. As he headed for home, he let a smile grace his features. The Power had chosen them. No one would ever be able to take it from them. And that was definitely good to know.
