A/N: Done during Spanish class when I was supposed to be working on my project, but (once again) the idea just popped into my head, plus I was bored, so I quickly typed it all up. Forgive me if there are any mistakes, you can correct me if there are any. By the way, this is also my first Symphonia fanfiction in a while (well, unless you choose to count the one I am working on right now which will be out next month), so I'm sorry if there are any continuity errors, or problems with the characters not being in-character; I tried my best.

Cruelty of Fate

The fragility of his nature worried him. He always worried that if something, anything happened, that would take him back to those fateful days that he would snap. So far, it hadn't happened; but he knew that Zelos' luck wouldn't hold out forever. Something would happen.

Fate's cruel game.

Time was the ultimate judge, and whether or not Zelos pulled through was still up in the air. No one would know yet what the Chosen of Tethe'alla's fate held. And he, the observer, knew how his fate could end. The numerous paths that faced him, and what choices he could make.

While now he knew Zelos considered him something of a threat (or perhaps an enigma), there was still a trust there. As weak and slight it might be, it was still there. But the scales were so balanced that even the slightest, tiniest thing could tip them to either side.

And having that trust was crucial, for without it, the fate of both worlds could be turned to disaster. Even then… he knew that it was just an excuse for him; he knew that he could do this without Zelos if it was necessary. But he, he wanted to protect him; keep a close eye on him, and this seemed to be the only way he could both watch over him and try to help in the salvation of both worlds.

Maybe it was redemption.

Yes, maybe that was it. Maybe he was looking to redeem himself for all the wrongs he had committed in his life. For failing Anna, for failing Lloyd. In some twisted way, it might not all be for the Chosen of Tethe'alla, it might just be for himself.

Origin's seal.

He'd thought it through, and had decided that it would there where he would end his life. The place where all of his wrong-doing had started over four thousand years earlier. It would be there that he would end his life. Part of him knew though, that something would interfere with it; keep him alive. Because fate wasn't through with him yet.

It never was.

FIN.

Finished in about sixteen minutes. Err… it's not really a pairing, but I suppose if you squint real hard and tilt your head sideways then maybe it is. I will try and give this pairing one more shot before I publish my multi-chap Christmas present for you all.

Leave me a review.
