The Legend of Zelda: Lantern of IntentChapter I
The
sea, expansive and waveless...
Sea gulls dance gracefully in the
skies...
In the middle of the sea, Link grabs a log like a
life-saver, with the Ballad of the Wind Fish still pulsating through
his mind.
Slowly he awakens from the dream landscape that was
Koholint Island. The Wind Fish floats above him, its scream shows
happiness for the reality of its awakening.
Regaining his
senses, Link sees an island not too far away. Although going to
another island is not a very pleasing invitation, he has no choice
but to seek safety quickly.
With his remaining strength, he swims
with the help of his trusty log to the nearby island. Reaching the
beach, he knees over and grabs the sand in relief. He stops to look
at himself. He's weak, dirty and only the sword, shield and ocarina
are with him as all his other items rest deep below the surface
now.
In front of him he sees a forest, ominously silent. A
drop of water from the sky alerts him that he should seek refuge, so
he proceeds to the woods, his eyes scanning the entire place in
curiosity and walking with a quick step.
As he walks, he gets the
feeling of being watched and dances his eyes to the trees. From the
leaves he sees red eyes slowly approaching and just as he begins to
run, wolves come out of the bushes and start chasing him, hungry for
the weakened flesh of our hero.
Wandering aimlessly and tired, Link finally escapes the wolves, accidentally ending up in a village that is in the middle of a siege. The soldiers fight men in black clothes and horned helmets. Link is mesmerized as the village is overrun and decimated by the enemy forces and just as a young woman is about to be slain, he blocks the attack with his shield and kills the enemy. The young woman looks at him while he proceeds to fight more but Link finally faints from exhaust.
