"I call Hugh's!"

"But you're ALWAYS Hugh's!"

"You can be Envy!"

Lieutenant colonel Roy Mustang stopped his leaf crunching (it was fall) on his way to the Elric Brothers house (to give Full Metal another mission, of course), when he heard some kids debating.

"I don't want to be Envy, I want to be Hugh's!"

Roy rolled his eyes, about to go around the fence between him and the voices and tell the kids something that was guaranteed to make them shut up (except for the "OOOOOO! You said bad wwwwoooorrrddds!") When he heard a familiar voice say "oh come on guys! Oh sorry 'lizy, and girls! Doesn't anyone want to be Al or me?" Roy peaked around the fence and immediately there was a thumping sound as his jaw hit the pavement. Sitting in the middle of a bunch of 5 and 6 year olds was, you guessed it, Edward Elric, the Full Metal Alchemist. A little boy with blond hair and brown eyes looked curiously at Ed and asked, "why aren't you going to be you?" he seamed to be the one who called Armstrong.

Roy was about to walk around the fence and let Ed know he was there with a joke that had the words 'your own height' when:

" Well, Jou, because I want to be Roy Mustang, of course!"

Roy held onto the fence to keep himself from collapsing from shock (this is not a sarcastic remark!). ED wanted to be HIM?

"But WHY would you want to be Flame?" he recognized this voice as the one to call Riza.

"Well..."

Roy looked around the fence again to see Ed looking thoughtful. "That's a good Question, 'lizy." Roy tried hard to stop the chant going through his head that went something like this:

'pleasesaylovepleasesaylovepleasesaylove he's so completely Kawaii (1) so pleasesaylovepleasesaylovepleasesaylove-'

As you probably got, Roy kind of likes Ed.

"I think it's because he's the closest thing I've ever had to a 'father figure'."

You couldn't help but think of a balloon with all of its air getting let out when looking at Roy at that moment.

'hedoesn'tlovemehedoesn'tlovemehedoesn'tloveme I'm so depressed 'cause hedoesn'tloveme-'

"That's ALL there is?" it was the kid who had refused Envy. He sounded disappointed.

"Well, err..." Roy looked around the fence again to see Ed looking slightly flustered and for the first time Roy noticed that his cheeks where kind of pink. Now that the Flame Alchemist thought about it, he had been a little pink since Roy had looked, if not before.

"Want to know a secret?" said Ed, looking sort of nervous. "HAI (2)!" said all the kids, crowded around him. Roy couldn't stand it anymore he walked out until he was just outside the ring of kids and said, "hello, Full Metal."

Ed looked up, looking surprised. He stood up and waded through the sea of kids so he stood just inside Roe's 'personal bubble' and asked "hi there Mustang-sama (3), what are you doing here?" and promptly collapsed so that Roy just barely caught him. Roy felt Ed's forehead. He was burning up! "I better get you home." He mumbled, dragging Ed off in the proper direction.

The kid's stood where they were in silence until

"NOW who's going to play Mustang?"
