"Let's see... How should my poem go for Ellie?" Theodore asked himself, sits at his desk, tapping his chin with his pencil.
Alvin lays on his bed, bored. "Don't know what to tell you, pal. You're on your own."
"Alvin, just because you're grounded doesn't mean you have to be a downer," said Theodore, glaring. "Listen, Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday next to Christmas. I want a perfect date with Eleanor."
Alvin doesn't say anything.
"Hey! Alvin!"
"Huh? Oh yeah, favorite holiday," said Alvin, snapping back into reality.
Dave comes in and notices Alvin moping.
"Come on, Alvin," said Dave. "I'm sure there's some other things you can do besides TV and video games."
"Like clean my room?" Alvin asked sarcastically.
"Well, you should clean your room, but I meant reading a book. You like reading."
"I guess I could read my comic books."
"Well, I was talking about real books," said Dave.
"Oh, alright," said Alvin. "I guess a little Stephen King won't hurt."
"No, no, no," said Dave. "No scary stories. I don't want you to have nightmares."
"And I don't like Stephen King," Theodore butted in. "Especially the one about the haunted hotel."
"You mean The Shining?" said Alvin.
"Yeah, that," said Theodore. "Plus, it's Valentine's season. Nothing's supposed to be scary."
"Oh, lighten up, Ted," said Alvin. "Some horror stories deal with Valentine's Day."
"That's enough, Alvin," said Dave. "Just find a book that's not scary."
"Fine," Alvin grunted.
Simon comes in, wearing his lab coat. "What's going on?"
"Alvin was teasing me with his horror obsession," said Theodore.
Simon sighs. "Why am I not surprised?"
"Whatcha been up to, Simon?" asked Alvin. "Working on Love Potion Number 9?"
"Okay, kudos on that joke," said Simon. "But no. I'm working on an invention as a gift to Jeanette for Valentine's Day."
"I don't know what I'm gonna do for Valentine's Day," said Alvin.
Alvin grabs a Sherlock Holmes book.
"There you go, Alvin," said Dave. "A good old fashioned mystery will do you good."
"Yeah, I guess," said Alvin. He goes back on his bed and opens his book.
Simon heads into the bathroom to shower.
"No one come in," said Simon.
"Okay," said Alvin.
As Simon goes into the shower, he closes his eyes and begins to sing his love song.
Yesterday and You
Performed by Simon
I sit alone in this cafe
And listen to the sounds they play
Reminding me of yesterday and you
Each moment was a Valentine
Candlelight and sparkling wine
With whispered words that brought me close to you
I see your face, it's everywhere
Close my eyes, and you're still there
Feel your touch in everything I do
I wonder what your heart is saying
And if you hear the song they're playing
The song that brings me yesterday and you
Ba ba ba ba da da!
Simon finishes his shower and puts on his pajamas.
As he comes out of the bathroom, Theodore applauds for his singing in the shower.
Alvin of course is jealous. "I can sing better."
"Why? Because you're lead singer?" said Simon.
"No... yes," said Alvin.
"Stop being a jealous guy, Alvin," said Dave. "Come on, it's dinner time."
"Okay, Dave," said Alvin.
They go down to eat.
