Welcome, everyone. Honestly I don't know how to introduce this one, but I hope you enjoy.
Disclaimer: I do not own Sonic The Hedgehog or any of the characters, they are owned by Sega and Sonic Team.
"Concentrate, Silver." Mephiles instructed.
"I'm trying." Silver said.
Silver's sight was locked on the glass in front of him, as he used all his will in trying to move the glass.
Silver strained his muscles as he tried to get control of his powers.
"Remember, your power is drawn from your mental abilities, not your physical attributes." Mephiles said.
"Don't focus on yourself, focus on the object." Mephiles said.
Silver closed his eyes, mentally berating himself about having gotten worse.
"I did this when I was younger, why can't I do it now?" Silver questioned.
Indeed, in his younger days, Silver's emotions were more unstable, thus causing his powers to react and lift objects as well as himself.
This would end up being a double edged sword for his sake.
He would have abilities above his peers, giving him more opportunity.
But, it would also cause him to become an outcast, his fellow citizens distancing themselves and even going as far as to put him into isolation, out of fear, on multiple occasions.
Fortunately, for Silver, a vague hope had made itself present in two forms.
One was a hedgehog named Mephiles.
A once powerful fighter, who had retired from combat over a decade earlier.
The other was a hedgehog who had refused to give his name, only offering Silver pieces of advice in being able to deal with the harsh world around him, especially with the abilities he possesses.
Mephiles had agreed to teach him in the ways of combat as well as his extraordinary powers.
While his progress was slow, Silver eventually learned how to levitate himself once more.
However, when it came to lifting objects, Silver had managed to fail each time.
The best case scenario would be that the blue, glowing aura would surround the object, but Silver couldn't move it, no matter what he tried.
Silver let out a deep breath, no longer trying to life the glass.
"You've shown no improvement, if you let your emotions get in the way or let them control your powers, you will never be able to have peace of mind." Mephiles said.
"It's not like I've got anything to work towards." Silver pointed out.
Mephiles glared at Silver.
"That attitude of yours isn't helping." Mephiles said, insultingly.
As Silver was about to retort to his comment, a loud crashing sound interrupted him.
Silver and Mephiles looked over at the city, their expressions changing to ones of horror as they saw a building collapse.
Readying themselves, Silver and Mephiles levitated and made their way towards the city.
As they entered the city, a burst of water rushed towards them.
The two of them narrowly avoided being caught by it, floating high above.
In the distance, they saw the water start to take shape, transforming into a monstrous being.
"What is that thing?!" Silver shouted.
"That's impossible." Mephiles said.
"What?" Silver asked.
"It looks like we're going to need help, follow me." Mephiles said.
Silver did as he was told and followed Mephiles, seeing that they had gone somewhere all too familiar.
"What are we doing here?" Silver asked, looking at the small hut stood before them.
"He's the only one who can help us." Mephiles said.
As they entered the hut, they were greeted by the hedgehog Silver had somewhat befriended.
I saw what happened, I've been expecting you.
"Okay, seriously, what is going on?" Silver questioned.
"It's name is Chaos." Mephiles told him.
From there, Mephiles told of Chaos' origin, his resting place and the battle in Station Square.
"It seems someone has disturbed him and is now using his destructive abilities once more." Mephiles told him.
Silver took a moment to process all this information.
"So, what're we going to do?" Silver asked.
"Even with the powers we possess, we are no match for him." The unnamed hedgehog said.
"But there is one chance." The unnamed hedgehog said.
"Sonic the Hedgehog." The unnamed hedgehog said.
"The one from the story?" Silver questioned.
"I thought you said that he passed away a few years ago." Silver pointed out.
"Yes, he is unfortunately not with us anymore." Mephiles said.
"But that doesn't mean that he can't help us." The unnamed hedgehog said.
"I'm lost." Silver said, in confusion.
The unnamed hedgehog pulled out a case, opening it up to reveal two gems.
"The chaos emeralds." Silver said.
"Yes, the remaining two that Chaos has yet to use as his own." The unnamed hedgehog said.
"We're going to use them to send you back to the past." Mephiles said.
Silver looked at them as if they were crazy, but decided to play along.
"Why me?" Silver asked.
"Why not one of you?" Silver questioned.
"Because you are impartial, you have less of a chance of making an impact on the future with your decisions." Mephiles told him.
"As for me, I cannot go and risk meeting myself from the past, it could cause serious ramifications." The unnamed hedgehog told him.
Silver sighed.
"What do I do?" Silver asked.
"We will each take an emerald and use their powers at the same time to create a gateway to the past." The unnamed hedgehog said.
"Once you are there, you will inform Sonic of the situation and recruit him for our endeavor in defeating Chaos." Mephiles said.
"Okay." Silver said, nervously.
The unnamed hedgehog handed him an emerald while taking one for himself.
"Are you ready?" The unnamed hedgehog asked.
Silver nodded and the two held the emeralds up.
"Chaos Control!" They both shouted.
To Silver's amazement and shock, a gateway did open up.
Silver took in a breath as his nerves were setting in.
"Good luck." The unnamed hedgehog said.
With that, Silver jumped into the gateway, hoping his journey to the other side would not end in failure.
