Author's Note: Sorry I keep writing more fanfics. Lately I keep getting ideas and they bug the everloving hell out of me if I don't write them down so yeah. Also, I plan on updating one of my other fanfics today (Hopefully). It will probably be World So Cold because of the fact that the chapters for WSC are so short. But anyway, enjoy this new fanfic that the plot bunnies gave to me while they were attacking me in my sleep. (Seriously, I woke up choking to death)
Also, I plan on writing a Naruto fanfic (My first ever Naruto fanfiction!). I might have mentioned this before but I'm not sure. Anyway, it will be a female Naruto (I don't really like the name Naruko in all honesty. Well, okay I do but I much prefer Naruto to Naruko.) Anyway, the name of it will be Ancient History.
P.S. The Naruto in this story is a female. Oh, also, I won't always write other people's thought. Also, the summary is a little...meh...but oh well. I'll probably rewrite it once I write more of the story.

Bleak December
Before I Forget
3rd Person Point of View, Omniscient
Kagome blinks, sitting up and checking her surroundings. She shakes her head, allowing her bangs to cover her eyes. "Uh, I'm not in Tokyo or the Sengoku Jidai, am I?" She whispers to herself as she looks around. 'The energy around here feels different. It feels...more...alive and mysterious with danger hidden beneath...I guess.' Kagome sighs. 'At least InuYasha's not here to bitch at me. That's nice I guess. Just what the hell happened?' Kagome thinks before she feels something pulsating. She winces as she clutches at her heart, gasping at the strange feeling overcoming her.
A silent scream is ripped from her throat as her memories return full force. Tears stream down her face as she relives the horror of the final battle and the events leading up to it. Emotionally exhausted to the point where her rational mind was overwhelmed, Kagome shakily stands up just as something slams into her, pinning her to the ground. Kagome resists the urge to cry out in shock as she tenses slightly. 'Naraku?' She thinks, dread beginning to form in a pit in her belly as her muscles tighten.
"Who are you? What are you? Why are you so close to Konohagakure?" A muffled voice asks as Kagome feels something sharp press into the back of her neck. Instantly, she stiffens as repressed memories surface at the action. The temperature, which had steadily been dropping, suddenly plummets as ice crystals condense, forming ice spears aimed at the person pinning her down. The person holding her down screams in pain, suddenly releasing her as he or she is thrown backward.
Her training and instincts kicking in, Kagome is on her feet and ready to fight as she snarls animalistically. Baring her teeth threateningly, Kagome crouches down as she feels the presence of more people surrounding her. The only thing running through her barely functioning mind is 'Danger!' as her eyes haze over, trapping her in memories she had long forgotten. Sensing someone speeding towards her too late, she attempts to twist to lessen the blow. Instead of feeling pain, Kagome hears a shriek of pain and anger as she smells seared flesh. The scent and shriek cutting through the haze somewhat, Kagome cocks her head to the side in confusion before looking at her attacker.
A man wearing black clothing and a mask that resembled a bird glares back at her as he lets out a string of curses. The man clutches his injured right hand to his chest. Kagome blinks in confusion at the sight. Hearing an odd swooshing sound, Kagome turns her head to look in the direction the sound is coming from just in time to see a shuriken flying towards her with great speed. Unable to do anything to avoid it, Kagome stands there, staring at it. To her as well as the other people's surprise, the shuriken stops about half a foot away from her face; instead of striking Kagome, it sinks into a wall of ice as it is simultaneously struck by lightning coating the ice wall which causes the very edges to shatter while the rest of the shuriken is warped by the intense heat. Kagome clenches her eyes shut, placing a hand on her forehead to ward off the pain as her mind is freed from the haze because of her shock. Forcing her eyes open, Kagome looks at the group of people before her.
"Please excuse the behavior of my colleagues. Things have been tense a little lately. So, when we found a stranger close to our village, they attacked you with the intent on finding out just why you're so close to Konohagakure," A person wearing a cat mask explains as he slowly walks closer to her. Staring at the male, Kagome studies him. Effortlessly slipping on her Ice Princess mask, Kagome stoically studies the male before her for a period of time before nodding once.
"It is understandable. However, letting your impatience get the better of you by recklessly attacking might just get you killed or worse," Kagome says, her tone frigid.
"What the hell would you know anyway, you monstrosity!" The man who had pinned her down snarls out as he glares death at her. Kagome stares back at him, impassively quirking a brow.
"More than you do apparently. If you had attacked someone else, you could have very well been slaughtered. Of course, that is if you were lucky enough to not get a sadistic bastard," Kagome replies indifferently before turning her back to him.
"You would do well to learn your place, freak!" Bird mask chimes in, sneering as he nurses his injured hand.
"If that's the best you can come up with, I know it will be a waste of my time to attempt to talk to you anymore. Hell, I can feel brain cells dying just by being this close to you. I guess stupidity really is contagious," Kagome retorts. The male wearing the cat mask bites his tongue to keep from snickering at her comment. Clearing his throat to get Kagome's attention, he nods to her in apology.
"Again, I apologize for their behavior."
"Don't worry about it. You don't control them." Kagome replies, curious about him and this Konohagakure he keeps mentioning but refraining from asking. "Would you be so kind as to tell me where I am and what the date is?" Cat quirks a brow behind his mask.
"As I've said before, you are close to Konohagakure which is in the Land of Fire. Today is Wednesday, the 17th of August." Cat answers. Kagome nods in response.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. Seeing as you are so close to our village, I'm afraid you must be questioned," Cat says.
"You mean interrogated? If I must. I have some things that I would like to ask but I suppose they can wait," Kagome states.
Kagome sighs after the man with scars on his face leaves, confused and frustrated coloring his aura. 'It's not my fault I'm not any help. I don't even know what the hell's going on.' Kagome thinks. 'I was kind of expecting something more...I don't know...psychologically twisted I guess. Then again, I experienced Naraku and a ton of other things so I suppose I shouldn't have expected something anywhere near Naraku's level. Those guards or whatever they are made it seem like this man was a lot worse.' She leans back in her chair before closing her eyes. Pushing her senses out, she checks for any auras nearby before deeming she has enough time. Reaching deep inside her mind and spirit, Kagome smiles when she feels the familiar brush of her reiki. However, her smile quickly morphs into a frown as she feels something different, something new deeper within her. Feeling someone approaching, Kagome pulls back with a promise to explore it later as well as ask the jewel a few things.
The door opens to reveal the same man as before and an older man with a pipe in between his lips. Kagome watches as the two males sit across from her. Kagome patiently waits for one of them to start speaking. She did not have to wait any longer than ten minutes.
"It seems that we have quite the predicament, young one," The older man says as he studies her. Kagome remains silent, her facial expression staying the same. The scarred man grunts. Kagome decides to take pity on the two.
"Everything I say is the truth, sir. Everything I told my interrogator, the man next to you, was the truth. I do not know where I am other than what the young boy wearing the cat mask told me. I don't know why I'm here. All I know is that I woke up in a strange forest shortly before being attacked by your guards or scouts or whatever they are and that I am in a place known as Konohagakure in a country or nation called the Land of Fire. I don't know what happened with the ice and lightning thing while I was being attacked. Before today, nothing like that has ever happened before," Kagome replies, allowing her sincerity to shine through her voice. 'I feel like I'm in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender because of the name of the land. I wonder if they would count my miko abilities as the same thing as the ice and lightning event. Let's not get started on any other craziness.' Kagome muses to herself. "The last thing I fully remember is battling someone who was very evil."
"Hm. If that is the case, why were you sent here?" The older man muses softly to himself. He inhales deeply before exhaling a cloud of smoke as he gazes at Kagome. He sensed no deceit from her when she spoke earlier. 'What an eventful day this is turning out to be.' Hiruzen thinks, staring at the young girl before him. Her blue-black bangs cover her eyes where you can't see them but you can still feel them boring into you. Her pale skin glows in the lighting in the room. "For now, I believe it would be best if you stayed in Konoha until everything is figured out. My name is Hiruzen Sarutobi. I am the Hokage of this village. From now until everything is figured out, I will have an ANBU member, one of the guards as you called them, assigned to watch over you," Hiruzen says. Kagome mentally sighs before nodding, understanding why the Hokage was being cautious.
"I understand," Kagome says softly. Hiruzen nods before getting up and opening the door. He calls out someone's name and tells them to summon which ANBU member before thanking them.
A few minutes later, someone knocks on the door. Hiruzen tells them to come in and the person opens the door. Kagome quirks a brow when she sees who is supposed to be helping her. The ANBU member bows. "Itachi, you will be watching over..." Hiruzen trails off, realizing she never said her name. Kagome blushes at her rudeness.
"I'm sorry. My name is Kagome."
"You'll be watching over Kagome while she is here. As of right now, we do not know how long she will be staying. Also, while you are watching over her, you will not be going on any other missions. You are to protect her and keep her safe. However, do your best not be seen with her." The Hokage orders.
"You don't have to go through so much trouble Hokage-sama. I've already been a bother. Also, even if Cat mask here isn't seen with me, it is likely that people will find out. That will bring even more attention to me, and I probably already have a lot of attention drawn to me," Kagome replies, blushing with embarrassment. Adding in a lower voice, "God knows I always attract attention and trouble, apparently no matter where I am."
"Do not worry little one, Itachi will keep you safe," Hiruzen assures her. Kagome sighs. 'I wonder if the poor boy will be able to handle the trouble that is bound to follow me,' Kagome wonders, already feeling pity for the masked black haired boy.
"I can't believe it's already been three months. Even more shocking is the fact that I really haven't gotten into any trouble since I came here. If InuYasha and Fluffy were here, they'd both be astounded," Kagome murmurs softly to herself. She had woken up a few hours ago at midnight. Kagome glances at the clock, sighing when she sees 3:36 glaring back at her. "I doubt I'll be able to sleep anytime soon so I might as well do something. Come to think of it, I've been wanting to go to the park for a while now. If anything happens, I can simply knock them out or something else," Kagome says out loud as she grabs her shoes and slips them on. Looking around the tiny bedroom in her small apartment, Kagome nods before leaving the apartment, locking it behind her.
Walking for about twenty-five minutes, Kagome tenses. Hearing a muffled scream, Kagome follows the scent of blood, tears, and burnt flesh and hair. Silently snarling at the sight that greets her, Kagome quickly hides in a tree. Her eyes darken as she watches a group of seven people, two females and five males, torturing a young, female child with brown hair. Taking a deep breath to calm herself when she feels her motherly instincts and Beast scream at the mistreatment of the poor girl, Kagome begins to formulate a plan to save the child. Kagome's blood freezes as she hears three belts being undone before seeing three of the men taking their pants off. Clenching her eyes as memories of her in a similar predicament assaulted her, she grabs the branch she is perched on.
Abandoning the plan, Kagome launches herself at the group. She manages to knock out the two females before the others notice her. The five males turn around, ready to fight back before they see her. They all burst out laughing.
"It's just a little girl!" One says as he wipes his eyes. Another one smirks.
"You want to join in too girlie? No problem, there are plenty of us to go around," A man with a scar on his face says as he walks towards her. Kagome resists the urge to snarl. Waiting until he was right in front of her, Kagome flings herself at the man, clawing at his face before snapping his neck. Kagome stands up, feeling the blood splatter on her face and wipes her mouth. Smirking internally, she licks some of the blood off her right hand.
Deciding to scare the men shitless, Kagome combines a death glare equal to Sesshomaru's with one of Naraku's most sadistic and twisted grins ever, adding her own touch to both. The blood coating her face, neck, and hands only adds to the terror of the gruesome sight. Kagome shakes her head, making her bangs part so that her mismatched eyes would show. "Now you see, normally I wouldn't even think to condone killing. But you, my friends, are one of the exceptions. After all, filth such as yourselves shouldn't be allowed to continue living."
"B-but we didn't do anything!" One man screams out as he pisses himself. Kagome snorts.
"Oh please, don't peddle your bullshit to me. Besides the fact that you're torturing a child, you all were going to rape a child who can't be any older than six at most. Don't even argue. I saw three of you take your pants off. Add to the fact that the lust and arousal flooding your scent, you can't say shit. Scent doesn't lie my friends. Rape in and of itself is something disgusting but to rape a child, now that is something incredibly heinous and sickening. Don't worry though, where you're going, you'll have lots of friends. You know what, maybe I'll even drop by to keep you four company," Kagome grins sadistically. "You five, well, the remaining four will most likely be going to Purgatory." Kagome sighs. "Now, I only wish I could drag out your deaths so that you could feel the extent of pain you forced this poor child to endure but sadly, time is of the essence right now. However, that doesn't mean you will be so lucky next time." Kagome concludes before quickly killing the four, her Beast demanding she making them feel the greatest amount of agony she could while disposing of them quickly.
Turning to the poor girl, Kagome quickly unties her. The girl whimpers, shying away from her as she gazes at her in big watery blue eyes overflowing with fear. "Shh, it's okay now. They're gone. They won't hurt you anymore, I promise." Kagome soothes as she smiles softly. The girl blinks before flinging herself at Kagome, sobbing into her shoulder. "Shh, shh. It'll be okay." Kagome soothes as she pats her back comfortingly. Stilling slightly, Kagome inhales. "So you're the one I've been feeling ever since I came here. No wonder my Beast has been anxious," Kagome murmurs into the sobbing girl's hair. "Some on, let's get you to my house."
Kagome draws a bath for the girl she helped. Standing up, she walks into the kitchen. "Your bath is ready," She gently says. The girl looks at her, eyes watering before opening her mouth.
"C..will you...help me bathe?" The girl finally manages to ask after trying multiple times, her voice a hoarse whisper. Looking at the girl, Kagome nods.
"Of course sweetheart. My name is Kagome and I'm sorry for you having to see what I did to those people," Kagome apologizes. The girl shakes her head.
"I..it's okay. Th-they were mean...and would...always abuse and hurt me," The girl replies. Kagome silently grits her teeth at the revelation. "My name's Na..Naruto U-Uzumaki." Kagome smiles down brightly at the girl.
"Undress and climb into the tub sweetie," Kagome prompts. The girl gazes at the tub in wonder before quickly doing as Kagome suggested.
"I've never really bathed in a tub before," The girl shyly admits. Her voice is slightly stronger than before, and Naruto can say something without stuttering or trailing off.
"What do you mean?" Kagome asks as she grabs a hairbrush and begins brushing Naruto's long locks. She starts at the bottom, gently working her way up to the top of the girl's head as she carefully works all the knots out. "I'm sorry they ripped out chunks of your beautiful hair sweetie."
"It's okay. They used to do it a lot." Naruto speaks before splashing her face. "What I meant was...I um...I don't have any parents or a place to live so I would usually get a bath whenever it rained or if I found enough water collected somewhere to wipe the grime from my skin. Everyone in Konoha despises me but I've never really done anything to them other than some light pranking. But they hated me before that too. I have to take care of myself. The only people in Konoha that are nice to me are the Hokage, Teuchi, and his daughter Ayame. Old man Teuchi owns Ichiraku Ramen, and every now and then he'll give me a free bowl." Kagome smiles at the happiness in the girl's voice.
"So you're an orphan?" Kagome gently asks. Naruto nods sadly. Kagome smiles. "It's okay. While I'm not an orphan, well, I am now technically I guess. Anyway, before something happened, I had a family. But, I do understand, in a way, what you are going through Naruto." Kagome says as Naruto wets her hair. Kagome grabs the shampoo and works it into the young girl's now tangle-free locks. She scrubs Naruto's scalp as she thinks about her next words. Motioning for Naruto to rinse her hair, Kagome watches the girl vigorously rub her hair under the water until it was completely sud free. Naruto resurfaces. Kagome giggles softly.
"I think I need to drain the tub and rinse it out before we can continue your bathe," Kagome smiles. Naruto blushes before chuckling. Kagome pulls out the drain, watching the water drain. Turning the faucet on, Kagome grabs a cup and rinses out the dirt and grime out of the tub before pouring some water on Naruto's head to help rinse any dirt that may still be clinging to it off. Satisfied with the now clean tub, Kagome plugs the drain again and fills the tub.
"Kagome?" Kagome hums. "What about you? Don't you need to take a bathe?" Naruto asks. Kagome smiles.
"I do and I will Naru-chan. But only after you finish. If you want, I can braid you hair after I get out since I don't take very long." Naruto nods and Kagome smiles. "Wow, your hair is blonde. I thought it was brown when I first saw you. Then again, there wasn't much light for me to see much of anything with." Kagome comments as she works conditioner into the young girl's hair. "Naruto, how old are you?"
"I'm five. What about you Kagome?" Kagome's smile falters.
"Well, do you want the truth even if it may be hard to believe or do you want my estimate?" Kagome asks, serious. Naruto smiles.
"Both!" Kagome chuckles.
"Okay. Well, my true age is sixteen and a half years old. However, something happened and I ended up here back in the form of a child. My rough estimate is that I'm somewhere from four years old to six years old. I'm not sure other than that rough estimate." Kagome answers truthfully, watching the wonder and awe spread on Naruto's face.
"Really? Wow!" Naruto exclaims. Kagome smiles, nodding with a chuckle.
"Yep. Now, you remind me of someone I met before I came here. His name was Shippo. Like you, he was an orphan. You remind me of him in many ways Naru-chan," Kagome speaks, a wistful look entering her eyes.
"I'm sorry. Maybe you'll get to see him again," Naruto says, attempting to comfort her newfound friend. Kagome shakes her head.
"I don't think so Naru. But, on the bright side, I got to meet and help you!" Kagome says as she rinses her hands. She grabs a rag and the soap, handing both to Naruto. "Wet the rag and squeeze a little of the soap onto the rag. Yes, like that. Now, let me take the soap, thank you. Now, work the soap into the rag before you start washing your body. When you have scrubbed every spot, rinse your hair and body. Wait, let me get your back for you. I know how hard it is to successfully wash your own back," Kagome says as she takes the rag from the younger girl and begins washing her back. "There, better?" She asks as she hands Naruto the rag. Naruto nods. "I'm glad. Now, while you're scrubbing your body, why don't you tell me about yourself? Oh, also tell me everything you can remember about how people treated you sweetheart."
Author's note: This chapter took a long time to write. Honestly, when I saw how many words it originally had, I was surprised. It honestly felt like I wrote a lot more than 2,000+, almost 3,000 words. So I decided to add in a little extra. I was originally going to leave it after Kagome said she was bringing the girl to her house. The rest after that was going to be in the next chapter but meh.
Sorry I haven't updated anything else in so long! I'm just nervous for my Biology EOC as well as nervous because I might take the Bio CLEP. I figured that writing something would help with y nerves, if only a little. It sort of did.
Word Count: 4,270
