She stood in the middle of the bloody battlefield and her face was tilted towards the thundering sky. Her white hair, pure as freshly fallen snow, had escaped from the ponytail she had managed to wrangle it in prior to the battle. Her copper skin, borderline mahogany, was stained in the dirt and dried blood from the countless victims; whose lives had been claimed by the brilliant silver blades of her polished twin swords.
Cassian, General Commander of the Night Court Armies, connected eyes with the infamous Commander Juno Ambrosia of the Summer Court and his hazel locked with her soulless sapphire blue. The two held each other's gazes for many moments before something switched and their boots dug into the ground, causing it to crack, and they bolted towards each other.
The sound of metal clashing on metal seemed to echo throughout the barren field. Sparks flew as Cassian blocked the speeding blade that was aimed towards his stomach and quickly used leverage to deliver a deadly kick towards his opponent's head.
Foreseeing the events, Juno bended backwards and the kick sailed harmlessly over her head - barely missing the mark. She planted a hand down on the dusty ground and spun her own kick - landing on its intended target - right in Cassian's well armored chest.
As soon as he felt the iron plated boot hit his chest - Cassian knew he was in trouble. Pushing off the ground with the aid of her hand, Juno put more power in her attack and sent Cassian flying backwards.
Skidding across the ground, Cassian dug his fingers into the hard dirt and dropped into a kneeling position as he stared at Juno. She slammed her foot onto the earth and Cassian watched in horror as a crevice appeared before him and it had begun to speed - ripping the earth apart by the seams.
Taking a brief moment to collect himself, Cassian snapped his wings open and pushed off into the storm cloud covered sky. He could feel the thunder and lightning in his bones as he banked into the clouds, and could faintly make out the sound of Juno's mumbled cursing as she scoured the sky for her lost prey.
"Cassian!" she roared, her voice booming. "Come out here and fight me, you coward!"
Cassian, however, had different plans and quickly turned - likely wanting to live another day.
