Hope's heart fluttered, a million different emotions whipped around her head. She couldn't lose anybody else, her heart wouldn't be able to take it. Her breathing was becoming more and more uneven with each passing second. She pushed past Emma, ignoring her pleads to stay.
Hope didn't really know where she was going, but one thing was sure she had to find Landon. After a couple of minutes, Hope found herself surrounded by a bunch of trees. She tried to slow her breathing, so she could focus on using her enhanced senses, however that soon revealed to be no help at all.
She pushed herself forward, still trying to focus on any nearby smells or noises. After approximately twenty minutes, she was starting to loose hope that she would ever see Landon again. She blinked away tears that where threatening to fall. Just then, a glimpse of hope and happiness rose in her veins as her eyes spotted a figure in the distance, but it was soon replaced by sadness and guilt as she caught a proper glimpse of what had become of Landon. A dagger pierced through his heart, his eyes drained of any life that once shun.
Hope fell onto her knees, gently shaking his lifeless body, she knew he was dead but she didn't want to accept it, she didn't want to come to the realization that death had taken yet another person she loves. Every passing second, Hope started to shake him more and more violently. She stopped after a couple of minutes, letting out choked sobs. She muttered every healing spell she had ever accoutered, it was obvious it wasn't working but Hope convinced herself otherwise. Her attempts came to an abrupt stop, as she felt a soft pair of hands gently place themselves on her shoulders. She peeked over her shoulder to be immediately met by Josie's gaze.
"He isn't dead.." As the words left Hope mouth, she realized how wrong they sounded, "tell me he isn't dead.. please Josie."
Josie couldn't find the words plus she was completely shocked at how vulnerable Hope looked. Josie gave a slight nod. She gave Hope no chance to dart away, she pulled the Tribrid into her arms. Hope was no stranger to death, but that didn't make handling grief any easier, in fact it made it worse.
Hope leaned into Josie's soft touch, burying herself into one of half of the Gemini twins shoulders. Hope's tears were laced with pain, pain from loosing both of her parents, her uncle, Landon and anybody else she lost along her way. Hope has been through more loss and destruction then any adult could even imagine.
The young tribrid, slowly moved away from Josie, making her way back to face Landon. Gathering her strength, she picked up the lifeless body, and began to walk in the direction of the school. Croaked sobs escaped her lips, but for the most part she blocked out her emotions. If she let herself feel anything, then she didn't know how she could ever live.
As her foot finally met the pavement of the school, she glanced down to Landon before looking straight ahead. Two figures came into her range of vision, she soon recognized them as Rafael and Alaric. Hope soon gave into the weakness, and fell onto her knees, gently placing Landon onto the pavement. She couldn't focus on the looks of the two men through the blurriness of her vision.
"Hope, what happened?" Alaric asked, worry lacing his every word, "is Josie ok? She went out looking for you."
Hope didn't even try to listen to Alaric, her whole mind was focused on the drained body in front of her. She pushed herself out of her trance and her eyes met Rafael's as soon as she looked up, she could see the pain and regret clouding his eyes. Without saying a word, she placed a soft kiss on Landon's forehead before standing up and walking away.
Her journey back into the school building took longer then it should have, as her thoughts clouded her sense of direction. Finally, she walked through the doors of the school. It was quiet, perhaps too quiet but she couldn't focus on that, her whole mind was still trying to process Landon's death.
She lifted her gaze from the floor, looking for a familiar brunette. She had seen her take the lead back to the school, but she lost sight of her after a couple of minutes. Despite everything that has happened, Hope found that the only person that could make her feel even a bit better was Josie. Her eyes darted around, trying to find Josie. After what felt like centuries, Hope was finally facing Josie's direction, she planned to walk up to her but she soon noticed that she wasn't alone. She was accompanied by Penelope. She turned her body around when she saw Josie smile, the biggest smile she had seen Josie make in weeks. She didn't want to drag her down to what she was feeling, if that was even possible.
Hope pushed herself back to her room, forcing herself to ignore the constant stares. Ever since people found out she was a Mikaelson, their whole perspective on her changed, and she hated it. Her fingers finally touched the cold metal door handle, she quickly stepped into the room, slamming the door close in the process.
All of a sudden, she couldn't support her own body. She collapsed on her bed, as ugly sobs escaped her lips. She just couldn't believe it, she thought she was done with loosing people. She made a promise to herself that she wouldn't let herself feel anything in attempt to never feel like this again but she broke the promise and now she finds herself in the exact position she was when her parents died. The difference this time was that the pain from loosing her parents were laced with the pain from Landon. After a couple of minutes, her eyelids became too heavy to keep open. She drifted off into the dreamland.
Hope was awoken by a loud knock on her wooden door. She didn't bother to get up and see the culprit, the heaviness of her heart was too much to handle. She flinched when the door swung open. She let her gaze drift to the door, but she was completely shocked when she found Lizzie standing there with a face full of pity.
"Out." Hope intended for it to come out aggressively but instead it was more like a beg.
Lizzie just shook her head. The blonde let herself into the Tribrids room, situating herself at the end of Hope's bed. Lizzie's face turned into shock when she caught a proper look at Hope's face. Her pale skin made her puffy red eyes stand out. That wasn't what made Lizzie surprised though, it was something about Hope's eyes. The glint of guilt, pain and hopelessness mixed into one. The tribrid looked broken.
Lizzie decided to let the silence take over the room, as she didn't really have that much experience making Hope feel better. Second after second, the silence was becoming unbearable for Lizzie. Luckily for her she didn't have to break the silence.
"Why are you even here?" Hope suddenly asked.
Lizzie shrugged her shoulders, she really didn't know why she was in Hopes room. "I guess I wanted to see if you were ok," she looked up to Hope, "are you ok?"
Hope shook her head in response. After a couple of moments, Hope dragged herself from her bed and began her journey to her bedroom door. Lizzie was puzzled. Nevertheless she followed Hope, curious to where she was going.
Approximately one and a half hours later, Lizzie was beginning to regret following Hope. She wiped the sweat from her forehead. She let out a long sigh of relief when Hope stopped in her tracks. The Gemini twin held onto a bench trying to catch her breath. Lizzie looked around and realized they were in the middle of Mystic Falls. Her mind was lost in confusion, so she looked at Hope. The Tribrid looked like she was reliving a memory of some sort.
"Landon and I danced here for the first time," Hope smiled at the thought but it soon disappeared, "Was just an hour or two before I found out my father was sacrificing himself for me."
"At least you're still alive, he didn't die for nothing." Lizzie was pleased with herself at her attempt to lighten Hope's mood.
"He did die for nothing. I killed my mother, then my father and uncle died for me. If I was never born, at least they would be still breathing."
"Oh my god Hope, if you were never born I think everybody will have a little void in their hearts. Yes your parents died, but hey look at your father, the most feared man in the whole of history, sacrificed himself because he loved you, last time I checked Klaus Mikaelson didn't just sacrifice for anybody. So shut up, you are the most strongest most amazing person, to walk this goddam planet."
Hope couldn't help but smile. Lizzie gave her a huge grin in response, not only because she was pleased with herself but she made Hope smile for what she can gather the first time since Landon's death.
