She Could Have Been Mine
He watched her run into Mack's arms, where she was loved. He watched the pink and red rangers kiss each other hungrily and reminded himself that Mack was the one she was in love with.
He watched Mack pick Rose up and spin her around, causing the pink ranger to laugh. He had always tried to make her laugh. It never worked. That was just one more thing Mack could do that he couldn't.
Was there anything Mack Hartford didn't have going for him? He was the heir to a multi-billion dollar fortune. He was smart, funny, caring, a 'total sweetheart,' as Rose liked to gush. Only Mack could have come into the world as a robot and still get the girl.
He'd never had a chance, and he knew it. She'd been Mack's girl since they'd laid eyes on each other and she always would be his girl. And from the look of all the kissing they were doing (Were they glued together at the mouth?) it seemed that Mack and Rose would soon be joining Tyzonn and Vella in marital bliss.
He was joined at the table by Will and Ronny, both red faced and happy. Ronny planted a kiss on Will's cheek and went off to get drinks.
"Hey Will, what do you think of Rose?"
"I think she's Mack's girlfriend and that you're swimming in dangerous waters, my friend."
"I know, I know," he sighed. "I just can't stop thinking about her. She's so perfect, you know? Everything I've ever wanted and then someā¦I just wish I could have a shot."
Ronny, who had rejoined them a moment before, shot him a sympathetic smile. "I know it has to hurt, but if you really love her, you'll let her go."
And as Dax looked back at the red and pink couple, he knew Ronny was right and he had to let Rose go. And he would, because he loved her.
