Prologue: Bourbon Valley

It was a quiet and peaceful day, within the Bourbon Valley. The grass has never been greener, the sun was shining down and the nearby cabin was emitting smoke from it's chimney. However, the sound of crashing glass and savage growls came from within the cabin, as

Then, suddenly, running out of the door... was me. No, not the dangerous looking Lycanroc. The little Chespin running from it, carrying a large book? Yeah, that's me. My name is, obviously, Chespin. As you can see, I'm not really having a good day, now am I? But you're probably wondering, how in the Galar Region did I end up here? Well, it's a long story, so let's start from the beginning.

Okay, see the little valley next to the big lake? Underneath the great oak tree? That is Bourbon Valley. This is where I was born, and this is where I was raised by my older brother, Quilladin and my dad, Chesnaught. This valley is the home to many other Pokémon, and we're basically a huge family. I never really had any issues of living in the valley. Well, except for what we had to eat.

All we ever ate in the valley is berries. Day in, day out, it was nothing but berries, berries, berries. It was all we could ever find around there. Heck, even looking at berries makes me sick to my stomach. I mean, to be fair, they don't taste bad at all, but what would happen if you had nothing to eat, except for berries for practically your whole life? Yeah, thought so. So whenever I do get berries for dinner, I always give them to Quill.

Speaking of which, let me tell you about Quilladin, my older brother. Well, he's about as good a brother that you could get. He's loyal, he's friendly, he's trustworthy, and he could eat a whole pile of berries, in no time. He can be an idiot, and get on my nerves, sometimes, but we're family, and aside from any other Pokémon in the valley, Quilladin is the only one that I can act like myself around.

My dad, however, is the exact opposite. Since he's the leader of the valley, he usually takes charge and keeps the valley in order. But like I said, he's the opposite of Quilladin. He's tough, he's grumpy, and he doesn't really acknowledge me on the more important matters. Whenever we go berry hunting, he and Quilladin are usually the ones who keeps any wild Pokémon from stealing it, usually ending up in battles with them. As for me... Sigh... I'm always put with the berry pickers, along with a Rowlet and a hyperactive Scorbunny. But to my credit, the smell of mint around the berries always puts me in a good mood.

You see, I'm probably the only Chespin, whose sense of taste and smell is more developed than any other Pokémon within the Galar Region. I can detect whether a berry is poisonous or not, figure out the ingredients in a berry, the whole nine yards. I tried to tell my dad about it, but he just shrugs it off, and walks off. So he never really understood my gift.

Oh, and did I mention that this is the story of how I became one of the greatest chefs in the Galar Region?
