"No! You go straight home! Now. As fast as you can!"

A whimper, a need to stay and help. Refusal.

"Seth. Trust me."

A glance, and you run off to do as you're told.

You're heading for home, avoiding gnarled tree roots and divots in the earth.

Then something happens. A nagging feeling in your gut, and you double back to hurry to the scene of the attack.

All of your brothers have gone, and it's only Cullens that you see. You start to turn around when she catches your eye.

She's young, close to your age, and she's all you can see.

Her hair is short and black, and though her eyes are a deep scarlet, they entrap you. You take a step forward, and try to pick up her scent.

It's sweet, as you expected, but not overwhelmingly so. You feel the need to approach her, and take another step to do so.

You barely notice Edward and Bella's entrance as distracted as you are, and when he sneakily snarls at you, you ignore it.

You lower yourself onto your haunches, and sit to observe the girl.

Her features take on a sudden change as Bella enters the picture. Her eyes are slits, her mouth open in a menacing smile.

She lets out a piercing howl, her voice like music to your ears. You revel in the sound and silently beg her to do it again.

You sit there staring a few minutes more, until finally you hear Sam order you to return to La Push. You have to do it, but you do it as slow as you can, first raising your body up to stand, then inching your paws in the opposite direction. You don't dare turn around yet, because you don't want to miss a second of the opportunity you have.

More of her kind enter the clearing, and a sense of dread fills you. You stop your slow movements to leave and let out a low growl, stopping only when you're sent a

warning glance from Edward.

You stay locked in place and stare as a child-like girl questions her, and every hair stands on end as she howls in pain.

You step forward. You get another glance, and you growl at it. You know you have to do something, because every fiber of your being is screaming at you to help her.

The clearing goes silent, and Bella is hiding her face in Edward's shirt. Your heart thumps in your chest.

She howls, and her eyes catch yours only once.

The cloaked vampire has killed her, and you can't feel anything but pain.

All of her pieces are thrown into the roaring fire, and you catch a final whiff of her scent before you're running.

La Push has never looked so gloomy and uninviting. You don't bother phasing back, and don't stop running until you've crossed the entire reservation. You turn and head for

Jacob's house, where you know you'll get scolded by Sam for not listening, but it doesn't matter, nothing does.

You realize that you've imprinted, and with an aching heart, you phase back and enter the small house.

Sam's yelling at you, and Jacob's just yelling. You nod numbly and exit the house again. He calls after you, but you just shake your head and run as fast as your human

legs can carry you.

You're in the clearing you left just moments ago. The fire has died, and has she.

You sit for what feels like days (though it's only a matter of hours) before they find you.

You let them drag you back and they don't say a word.

The door stays open behind you as you enter your room and lie on your bed.

Staring at the ceiling, you picture her face and wait for the world to end.
