He opened his eyes to find he was in an unfamiliar place. White walls, the place was eery, something was attached to his arm; it took him a moment to register that it was an IV, he was in a hospital. He slowly looked around the room, to his right she was curled up asleep on a chair. Her brown curls gently fell over her cheeks; she had a soft smile on her face as if she was dreaming and her breathing was so light it made him smile. She looked so peaceful, so beautiful, he smiled taking in the scene before him, she must have stayed all night with him making sure he was safe, watching over him. He remembered the touch of her hand as he was wheeled into the OR, the look in her eyes, the sound of her voice, but most of all he remembered how he felt.
He felt love that day. He felt love the moment he looked into her eyes, every time she laughed every time she smiled, he noticed the way she scrunched her nose when she was concentrating and the way she looked when she cried. He loved her with all of his heart, but he was scared that she would run. This time he knew it was different, he knew she felt the same and it was time. Time to tell her those 3 words, those 8 letters.....I love you.
