SPOILERS AHEAD!

Ok, this is something I came up with on the spot and probably sucks. Basically only based on that post-credits scene from Episode 164. Most likely will be rendered invalid when further info is made known. Just some Aichi x Kourin fluff and heavy speculation on what happened to Aichi and Kourin.

Disclaimer: I do not own Cardfight! Vanguard in any way.

Darkness. A room filled with darkness, and a young man sitting alone on the throne in the center. He was thinking, but no one could tell what. That is, if there was anyone there to see him.

"Aichi," a soft female voice was heard and pulled him out of his thoughts. How easy it was for her to soothe him just with her voice, even when he was lost in his upsetting thoughts, weighing up all the choices he could make in the situation he had ended into.

"Why are you sitting in the dark?" the voice asked, but the man didn't reply. Sighing, she moved towards the wall to flick the light switch. "Could you leave it like this, Kourin? I prefer dim lighting; it makes me think easier."

The woman, Kourin, sighed yet again, as if her troubles were weighing up with every passing moment. "Okay." she answered, not wanting to bring worries to an already troubled mind. Another sigh came before she could say the things she wanted to say since he had entered that state. Even if that would bring worries to him after all. "Aichi, cheer up a little. Everything will be alright, okay? I can't bear to see you so quiet. It's… unnatural."

Silence followed her words. Aichi looked up at her, looking towards her direction but not seeing her face in the shadows. He could however make out her eyes, those bright green eyes. Sometimes he caught himself lost into their brightness, into that sea of emeralds. "Come here Kourin," he spoke, his tone soft but steady and commanding at the same time.

The woman approached him steadily, radiating a certain aura as she walked towards the throne. An aura of elegance. It was however mixed with something else; uncertainty. Aichi didn't take his eyes off hers for a moment. When she reached his side, she met his eyes, emeralds meeting sapphires, soul meeting soul.

"You do understand the weight of our duties, don't you Kourin?" he spoke as if scolding her, as if disrupting his train of thoughts was a mistake on her part. "And yet, you expect me to cheer up? This is not a game anymore." His tone didn't change for a single instant, but it was clear he had been irritated.

"I do understand, Aichi," she uttered in that soft voice of hers. Aichi closed his eyes, receiving a strange feeling. He always felt calm when she said his name. Something about the way it rolled off her tongue. "But, ever since we came here, you've… changed. Please, don't be like that. Do it for me, okay? As a favor. I just, can't… can't bear to see you like this. I've told you, it feels unnatural."

Aichi sighed before looking at her again. He too couldn't be like this for long. But there was no other way. Sometimes, you just have to change. For the sake of those who depend on you. "I'm sorry Kourin. I just wish it didn't have to come to this." He stood, wrapping his hands around her waist, pulling her into his embrace. Kourin closed her eyes, relishing their contact. He caressed her long, blonde hair, which was let flowing freely. Back when he first met her, she tied part of it, but now she let it free. He sighed, remembering how easy life used to be.

"Don't worry. I promise you, after everything is over, we will go back to Earth. To our lives."

"Will it ever be over?"

He didn't have an answer to that.
