Late Night Game - Her guilty pleasure.

"Take it!" Her lower eyelid began to twitch.

"Hey! Well—take—take that, tin man."

"I'm right behind you, grass stain!"

"Can you see me? Dude, you can't even see me! I'm a total ghost right now!"

"See that?"

The green teen pouted. "You cheated!"

"Eat dust, B! Look who just put a turbo blast on your—"

Crack.

The controller in both of the teens' hands were engulfed in a black blob, and within an instant, fried. Beast Boy and Cyborg dropped the steaming gaming device and turned around to look at the stoic girl.

"For the love of everyone, shut up," Raven hissed.

"Well that's just not right! You fried our game!" Cyborg whined, folding his arms over his chest.

"With good reason. Your banter is giving me a migraine."

"But you always get a migraine when we play—" His ears drooped when she glared at him. "Games," he finished quietly, pretending to zip his lips. The changeling rubbed the back of his neck tenderly. It always bothered him when he and Cyborg made Raven upset, which happened to be a frequent thing. "Heh, sorry Rae, I guess—"

"I don't care," Raven mumbled, ignoring Beast Boy's deflated expression when she cut him off. She slammed her book shut and gently placed it on the seat cushion next to her. Instantly raising an accusatory index finger, she stabbed it in the direction of Cyborg. "You with your stupid cheers. We get it, you beat Beast Boy once. You beat Beast Boy, twice."

Cyborg lowered his head in defeat and nodded acceptingly. "Understood." Raven inwardly smirked.

"And you—" Beast Boy shrank under the harshness of her tone. "With your stupid jokes and lame excuses of why you keep losing to Cyborg. Not only have you convinced everyone in the whole Tower that you're going to win, you have gotten to the point to where you actually believe it." He frowned, exposing a small fang that jutted from his bottom lip.

She fought back the urge of allowing a small smile to tug at the corners of her lips. Beast Boy could be kind of endearing sometimes. She felt like she had punished an innocent puppy or taken away an ice cream from a toddler. With a scowl gracing her lips, she shook off any thoughts of the changeling's newfound fate of redemption.

"Look, Rae—" Raven grimaced at the pet name. Beast Boy defensively held up his hands. "Sorry, jeez. Raven. We're sorry to interrupt your reading. It won't happen again."

Cyborg glanced between his friends and nodded. "Yeah, we're sorry."

She inched her fingers toward her hood and pulled it over her head. "Whatever." Raven rose from her seat, deciding a walk outside would suffice.

"Besides," Beast Boy called before she reached the door. "It's not like you could stand a chance against us in Mega Racer Turbo Z."

"You're idiotic," she muttered, walking down the hallway. He began to cackle menacingly, earning a high-five from Cyborg. The two boys continued their previous game.

Who was he kidding? Maybe Raven could.

Beast Boy groaned and rolled over. He had been sprawled across his bottom bunk. He slightly lifted his head and peeked underneath the blankets to view his alarm clock. Beast Boy squinted his eyes as they adjusted to the red, neon symbols. Obviously not getting any sleep, he tossed his legs across the side of his bed and hopped off the edge. The changeling then reached for his shirt, grumpily tugged it on, and exited his room. He sluggishly dragged his feet across the floor and down the hallway, deciding he needed a late night snack to put his mind at ease.

He slid his green fingers through unkempt hair and paused when he entered the common room. A bright light from the TV reflected off the windows.

"Who's there?" a voice demanded.

Morphing into a mouse, he crouched behind the sofa and peeked at the standing woman. Raven slowly looked over every corner of the room. Not finding any traces of a person lurking around, she faced the screen once again and pressed a button on her GameStation controller. Beast Boy shifted back into his normal frame and crawled closer to the monitor.

She pressed rapidly, racing past each pixelated car. Another press of her button, and she instantly incinerated each one with a built-in launcher. Her tongue stuck out a bit as she continued on. Soon, Raven found herself neck-in-neck with a red car. Immediately pulling a double flip, courtesy of the yellow joystick, she dashed across the finish line; claiming first place. The screen flashed a 'WINNER' banner before switching to another screen for her to type in a name into.

Raven contemplated for a moment, earning the high score, and typed in the initials 'BB.' After a congratulatory smirk, Raven let out a small scream, causing a vase placed on the table to shatter. She quickly masked her expression with a stoic glare as Beast Boy sat beside her.

"What are you doing up so late?" she hissed, letting the controller fall from her hands.

He crossed his arms, and leaned back in the seat. "I should be asking you the same thing." Gesturing his head toward the GameStation, Raven fumbled with her fingers.

"I was—reading."

He quirked an eyebrow. "Reading, huh?"

"Yes, reading," she drawled, letting the 'g' trail off as she thought of a proper explanation. "The GameStation turned on by itself. I was simply turning it off, seeing that Cyborg forgot to unplug it at night."

"Uh huh. Reading," he mocked, curling his fingers to create air quotes. "Admit it, you're a gaming expert at Mega Racer Turbo Z! I knew you played video games!" Raven rolled her eyes at his victory fist-pump and began to turn off the gaming system.

"This is pointless," she retorted, walking away from the scene.

Beast Boy gave a hearty chuckle as she left the room. "Oh, don't you worry, Rae. This is our little secret."
