"No…"

It was a whisper, soft and croaked, scared and horrified with an overpowering disbelief that made it horrific.

"No!"

"Hey, a donut is breakfast not desert." Tully said, frowning down at his partner. Maggie looked up at him with her beautiful amused eyes. Brining the fatty treat up to her soft lips, she smiled "you're just jealous because you didn't get one."

He bolted fast towards the building, his heart smashing like thunder in his ears. This could not be happening! He shoved people out of his way, trying to make his way through the sea of people who were trying to escape the very place that he was trying to reach. Crowds pushed, desperate to save themselves. They slammed him back until he stumbled to the ground. He felt feet smashing into his back.

"Hey Tully, are you okay?" He tried to shrug off the feeling of fear and turned to face his partner. He forced a smile that was neither comfortable nor genuine. "Hey O'Dell" he said, watching her study him carefully. Why did he even bother hiding emotions form her? She always seemed to work people out. That's why she was so good at her job. She didn't say anything, no questions or soothing works. He put a warm hand on his arm and looked into his eyes. That's all he needed. It took him all his strength not to hug.

Desperately he tried to pull himself up. He could feel the pains shoot through his body, yet nothing could compare to the pain he would feel if he lost her. He had to save her! He ripped his body from the ground and broke into a pained jog. He had to save her! He had to! She was always the one there to save him, why couldn't he do the same to her. Wasn't that what partners are supposed to do, look out for one another?

He ran into the open mouth of the building, preparing himself for the suffocating smoke and the tongues of fire. He would do that for her. Only her.
